after searching the forums, it seems like its a known thing..

my wifes g37 is two years old and looks sandblasted..

my H is only 1 month old and already has two chips in the hood and a couple in the bumber.

my question is that will infiniti charge for excess wear/damage due to these tiny rock chips which are obviously factory defects?

They expect some wear...usually with a lease they provide details on what is considered excessive wear.

yeah my only knock about infiniti is the weak paint... especially in 2005-2006 models. the new paint, i believe 2008+ G37 is supposed to "self heal" and i can say that it does. i took my car through a machaine wash in a time crunch and it came out with swirls... those swirls are now gone. all ive done is only hand wash my car since, i havent used any special compund and no more swirls.

Japan has more stringent "EPA" requirements that have to be met when painting cars so the process or the paint itself is weaker than those made in the US and the G was built in japan. For that very reason I installed a clear bra on my G and it's doing a great job. The wife didn't want to spend the money on one for her sedan and the bumper is blasted up pretty good.

It depends on the Infiniti dealership and sometimes what you plan on doing when you go to return the car as to their reaction to the damage. If you plan on a re-lease or purchase then you probably don't have anything to worry about. If you plan on just dropping it off they may make an issue out of it.

We have clear bras on both cars. Worth every penny in my opinion.

They are supposed to be good for 5 years before they may start to yellow. Mine has been on since '08 and has not really yellowed at all.

Wish I had gotten one on the sedan regardless of the wifes wishes.....I just need a new bumper and be done with it.

Just have a decent shop re-paint the bumper. Did that with my 05 coupe and it was 10x better than OEM for durability. A quality shop can match the color. It was about $300 if I remember correctly.
