Why?

To have that many members, a lot of people disagree with you...

Sure your phone is a phone, but there is a lot of apps and os updates you can install. Hacker links, free software, how to's, every phone ever made.I think its refreshing to have a "community" to go to rather than some daamn customer support hotline where they constantly try to "upsell" items while you are trying to hang up on them.

Anyway...this forum creator really saw opportunity and his # of members show his success.

I wonder what single forum on the web has the most members?

im saying that because cellphones are annoying. Of course all the peppy kids are going to disagree with me. OMG LIKE A CELL IS MY LIFE OH MY GOD FOR SURE.

Whats more annoying is when people don't have the courtesy to turn off the ****ING things. I meen for ****ing sake, if your interviewing someone TURN IT OFF.

I have a Pocket PC, Palm Pilot, Laptop computer, Gameboy...WHY would I waste money on a phone just so I can have a smaller, less powerful version of any of these? I have a free cell phone. It has a color screen and a horrible midi version of "Freak on a Leash" for its ringtone. That's far more than I need in a phone. I just think cellphones have been incredibly irritating (I almost said "getting irritating" there, then I caught myself) for a long time. I have one in case I get a flat tire, and for cheap long distance. That's it. I can't stand people who can't take a step or breath without a phone glued to their hand and/or ear.

And I'm used to people disagreeing with me. I'm also used to people being wrong.

I am 26 and hate talking on phones, but that doesn't mean I don't want a resource for them. I wont buy a phone unless it has speakerphone (aforementioned) and an easily accessible calendar....and it must be a free phone. I think anyone who pays for a phone when they give them away free is pretty stupid. I got an audiovox cdm8140 with a 1-year contract....I like it.

I hate my phone and I hate Cingular, but I have to use it because it's my only phone. I have no landline because there's really no need for it. And I NEVER turn my cell phone off, but I have it set to vibrate before it ever rings, so I never forget to turn on vibrate or anything. It vibrates, and I hit the button to make it stop ringing before it ever starts. Best feature EVAR!

I'm with gabossie...my cellphone is my land line, and I use it for any and everything. I once went a day without my cellphone and it was holy hell. I'm constantly having people calling me asking about sailing stuff, or whatever and without a cell phone it'd just be bad.

I've been a member of the forum for a little while and I've been a lurker for much longer. It's VERY useful...I can't even begin to describe how much I've learned. If there was ever anything you wanted to know about your phone, your provider, your coverage, or anything even remotely related to a cell phone, it's the place to be.

And for those of you who have PDAs, laptops, etc... Use it to learn how to tether any of those devices to the data connection on your cell phone.. LOL

PDA forums rock. I figured out how to install a full PocketPC OS on my Casio BE-300, which from the factory includes a bastardized proprietary version of Windows CE.

But with my cell phone, I just dont use it enough to care. Its handy for when I have car troubles or need directions, but thats it. I do my chit-chatting on the landline or on MSN/AIM.

What kinds of things did you learn about your phone? Perhaps mine, a Kyocera 2345, is too basic to really do much with.

Well I have a 400 minute plan and with the free long distance and free nights and weekends, I use around 300 of the 400. I use about 100-250 of the free minutes.

Im with Verizon right now and I used to have a camera phone, but since I lost it($220 to replace), I ending up buying a cheaper phone($120 w/a $50 rebate). The best features are that its loud and it has a speaker phone so I could just lay it down and still talk while my hands are free.

I wanna get a Nextel, but dropping my current plan is too expensive.

I agree with it being stupid phones don't ring now. But the phone I have doesn't have a normal ring you can hear from more than 6 inches away from your ear. So I got something louder. Of course...my phone rings maybe once a week....I don't tell people my number...they leave me alone. That's the way it should be.
