Hi guys, I'm tossing my options around on what I should do when and if I go KAT. I was wondering if this rebuild kit looks legit?
Here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/91-94-2- ... 5634f3a6ff
Do you think I could use the piston rings on my stock pistons? Because I'm not sure if I want to use those pistons that come with the kit if I go this route.
When and if I go KAT, I will be using a t25 bottom mount set up, with 370cc injectors and other supporting mods.

I already have the bottom mount manifold.
Any info or opinions would be appreciated!

i did a stock rebuild on my ka, i took the block and all that to a machine shop and they just put stock parts.
im sure it will hold up for low boost...for a while... but you will want more.
if you really want to boost, you might as well go and get the best you can buy.
do it right the first time and you wont have to worry later or pay extra.
stuff i would get for low boost would def be forged pistons(new rings), get a good headgasket, the stock rods should be fine, and replace everything you can seals, gaskets etc etc. and get a good tune.
go to ka-t.org or search around.
good luck.

I've done quite a bit of research, and I personally think around 270 hp would be fine on stock internals. Yes it may be wise to get some lower comp forged pistons, but after reading this http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewtopic.ph ... f92b916e7a I have faith in stock internals. That rebuild seems to be prety much a stock rebuild. From what I hear ACL bearings are good bearings. I'm just unsure about the quality of the timing chain components and gaskets. I already have a Felpro head gasket and oil pan gasket.

I'm probably going to get this Enthalpy tuned ECU
KA24DE - T25/T28 Basic turbo setup for stock motor / stock headgasket SR 370cc injectors / N60 MAF - Good beginning setup - Up to 270 RWHP $349

So I think a stock rebuild will hold up fine for this tune.

So I will need the Enthalpy tune.
t25
370cc injectors
N60 Maf
walbro 255
intercooler and piping
BOV
FPR
z32 fuel filter
boost gauge, oil pressure gauge, possibly some more.
exhaust
a new clutch
and fluids.
Please add things that I might be missing, this is only a simple setup thow.

nah man that's good your on the right track.
im doing the same thing, but i think im going to get forged pistons, just because i want the extra assurance and i just got hold of a turbonetics t3/4 turbo.

the oil pan doesnt use a gasket, it uses "pookie" i use hondabond, but that stuff from autozone works fine too.
remember to change all the gaskets you can, front main, rear main, stuff that's hard to get too( should be in that kit) i like getting oem stuff, also get a new thermostat etc. you know
good luck with the build dude.
should be fun as hell once you get it up and running. :werd:

Oil pan gasket I have is kinda made out of a cork material. It's also a Fel Pro.
OEM things are definately nice but kinda spendy. As I'm a junior in High School, money is kinda hard to come by.

So would you trust this rebuild? Or what company has a decent rebuild you would trust?
And thank you good sir! I will probably not start the build till after I get upgraded suspension parts, and rebuild the engine.

the kit is very basic. there might be items left out/missing,i say be ready to buy extra bits and pieces to make up what is not there. all so stock pistons are fine for what u want to do. but not much past it

yea i don't really know why the felpro kit comes with the cork gasket, its just pookie.
haha yea man i hear you. s*** im all grown up and i still got problems getting all my parts.damn bills! and bad habits!
as for the rebuild. uh are you going to do it yourself? like install the pistons and put it all together?
you can get the block all done-machined, pistons installed, new freeze plugs, new bearings and what not from a machine shop, then you can just buy a gasket kit, or piece it together etc.

Yeah, I'm going to rebuild it myself. I have been working on cars for quite some time now and I feel confident in my knowledge. I'm also in auto class in high school.

How much do you suppose it would cost for the machine shop to do all that?

cool man! that's the way to do it.i thought i was in a rush so i had the shop machine put everything in, s***.. it was about like 500 for the machine work, including pistons(stock actually .50 over), new rings, new bearings but now it's just sitting in storage for the past year... haha.
