Im looking to improve my 01 Qx4's braking. Right now I just wanna try some stainless steel lines if it isnt to much trouble (other than bleeding brakes and not snapping fittings)

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Stainless-Steel-Brak ... 2c51569b50

But are these lines quality you guys think??? Direct replacement?? Any troubles that I can encounter??

I dont quite recall the brake line layout or connections on our cars, but are the fittings brittle? Or could these lines maybe not be to spec?? Any one tried??

Appreciate any help!!

as long as its the brand it says it is then i think i would trust them. APEX is a pretty well known brand.

well can they be that hard to replace??
Ive bled these brakes before I just dont know whats involved in changing the complete line if that fragile or difficult in anyway I was hoping to get a heads up.

Im pretty mechanically inclined, but I dont wanna get in over my head and brakes are pretty important lol

Well ive did alot of brake work, but i never replaced lines yet, so i cant help you on that. sorry man.

EDIT: you say you want to improve your q's braking, get slotted rotors, and good a** pads. I have EBC slotted rotors for the past 2.5 years and they are extremely good.

I had cross drilled brembos before the EBC's but they were cross drilled, and our r50's are pretty heavy so they ended up warped and stuff torwards the end because of the weight of our car.

Get some type of high quality Slotted rotors, i can only Vouch for EBC at this time, but ive heard someone on here had DBA slotted rotors and said they were very good also.

You will need a flare nut wrench of the appropriate size(s). If you try to use an end wrench, you will just round off the flare nuts.

These are not the complete line, but just the hoses. I put Aeroquip stainless steel hoses on my 240-Z back in the '70s. The definitely made the pedal firmer.

But its simply the old lines unbolt off and the new ones bolt on.. fill it with fluid, bleed toe brakes... and your good to go??

Or is there more to changing these litle bastards

My mechanic put mine on in very little time with no problems whatsoever. It was very straightforward for him. I have Goodridge G-Stop brand.

That's all there is to it, other than needing to use a flare nut wrench.

You probably only need one wrench. My '01 PF is up on stands in the back, and that's 10mm. IIRC, my 240Z was also 10mm You can get them by the each in any good auto
parts store, and probably at a full-size Sears. I'd get the Craftsman from Sears. Snap-on is even better (REALLY beefy) but pricey.

You can check size with an open-end wrench.

Nope, but you have the right idea with Princess Auto. I bought this set a while back when I had to change a fuel filter... I think I've used them three times. Definitely the right place to buy tools you're only going to use a few times.

http://www.princessauto.com/tools/hand- ... wrench-set

$13 for a metric set. Though I'd check first to see that the size you need is in that set.
