I agree with the fact that that MAY be too much car for the kid, however, something that urks me to know end is when people try to parent other peoples children. (Not saying anyone here is) I wouldn't sit here and "make the guy promise" anything, I mean, really? Come on, hey guy, I'll sell you this car but you HAVE to pinky swear me right now that you will be a GOOD dad and supervise your son while he drives your/his new car(that is no longer mine cause I sold it to you.) However, as one adult and concerned parent to another, I would sit down in my living room, maybe over a beer or something(his son can drive home, give him good practice) and explain to him, that this is A LOT of car. And that he should just be careful. After that, I'd sell the car and wash my hands of it.
I understand exactly what you are saying in this specific situation and it's good advice - explaining to the Dad how much power the car has.
And, in this situation, I'm not trying to parent another child - we both know that. But, in the past, I have instructed younger kids in MA and some of those kids were in desperate need of a REAL parent. Or, at least those parents needed to be enrolled in Parenting 101 !!! Sorry, what you said just reminded me of some related stuff rattling around in my brain.....
Bottom line - Education of the buyer and my responsibilities in/to the transaction are done..... We'll see if they call back, so far they haven't.But, great information in case another young driver comes looking.
