So last fall I realized (too late) that my alignment on the Q was super messed up in the front. It didn't really pull much, but it roasted the inside edges of my tires..

The bad thing is that these are Michelin PS2's, so they are not cheap.. Basically the whole tread except for the very very inside edge still has 80% tread left, which means its a shame to see them go..

I have since had my alignment fixed, so now everything is all good..

Here are some pics.. There is a TINY bit of cords showing on the inside edge, but they are not protruding out from the tread.. if you run your hand across them its smooth, and they feel like nylon cords not the metal ones..

I'll replace the tires if I have to, but it seems like the part thats worn bald wont even really contact the road with a proper alignment????

Torry and I rode on tires that were slightly worse than that all the way from Carlisle, to Newfoundland, back to RI. That being said, it was scary as s***. Replace them just so your a** doesn't pucker up every time you see a pothole. Think of your a**, Wes!

I wouldn't drive those around the block.

As a lower priced alternative to the Michelins you should take a look at Conti's DW (summer) & DWS (all season) tires. The DWS tires destroyed everything in Tire Rack's testing last year - great grip and amazing treadwear rating. When it's time to let my Bridgestone 960's go I'll be grabbing a set of DWS's.

If I had access to a tire machine, I'd mount them, and do a wicked burnout in something.

Used tires would be safer.

Put a load on that tire and you will see contact on that area of the tire. As such, that part of the tire will still experience wear. So the exposed area will grow and make its way through the nylon cords. I also do not think the rubber in that part of the tire is likely not the kind you want on the road anyways. My understanding is that rubber around the cords is different than the rubber used in tread. I read that some years ago, but is something I've never confirmed. Either way. Not worth it.

^true. Secondary rubber looks stickier and way less durable. I would figure that rubber just holds the cords in place or its a good surface for tread rubber or something. If you look close you can see where it starts and ends at tread rubber.

2 new tires for you

Make a smoke show and melt 'em!

If not for you, then at least for the crooked used tire dealer who is going to steal them from the tire stores dumpster and sell them to some unknowing customer.

They're done as street tires. Unsafe. But you could bring them to Carlisle and sacrifice them to the burnout gods. You'd have fun with them plus get a huge ovation in the process.

I ordered 2 new tires, should have them installed Friday. I'm probably going to have to use them one day (like 80 miles), I don't really have much of a choice, I'll be sure to have all the stuff for spare changeout, haha. I may brin them to Carlisle and sell them cheap to someone wanting to drift :).
