I would definitely choose the experience. I have a long list of places I would like to see before I die.

I've done enough doing this year. I'd like to be at home for at least a month straight, and I think that quality time would be best spent with an iPad 2 and Angry Birds.

This confuses me, as the former almost always requires the latter.

Unless you are given something or borrow it, you pretty much have to spend money to do anything these days other than taking a walk (and then you probably will want to buy shoes). :)

Experience, I've bought enough crap for this year. Even though I'd like a new desktop computer or some nice wheels for the car, I don't need either of them.

Why not both? Buy a 2012 Nissan GTR and tour racetracks around the US!

Well if I had money like that I think I would get one to do the other.

But since I dont, I think that doing something would win by a sliver. It depends on what it is but I think 6/10 cases would be doing something that sounded fun and worth it

Good answer but you can't do it because the proposed amount was only $1,000, which is not enough even for a down payment on a 2012 GT-R.

To me, $1000 is not enough to visit the places I want to see (or do the things I want to do) in the style that I'd want to do them, so I'd go with the appliance.

I chose buy stuff, I have bills, those bills eat up all my disposable income so I don't have any money to actually buy the stuff I want. So that $1K could actually buy parts for the car and a new Xbox.

Ah, I didn't read the title. My bad.

For $1000 I'd take a cruise to the US Virgin Islands and Caribbean and live it up for a week. Ticket on a cruise ship is only like $500 these days.

I'd rather buy something that I can get alot of use and enjoyment from over and over again rather than a one time expericence.

Doing something fun doesnt have to cost a million dollars. How bout something like skydiving or seep sea diving like she said, or driving around a track a few times in an exotic car. Its worth it... parts can wait and will still be there in the majority of cases.

It really is a question of perspective. We differ. Sky diving does not interest me. I wouldn't mind deep sea diving but not off the NJ Shore which is the closest big body of water to me, where visibility is terrible and the water is polluted. I would only consider doing it in a tropical location where you can actually see in the water. But to do a trip like that would cost considerably more than $1,000. As far as driving exotics around race tracks...uh been there/done that many times. :bigthumb:
