Greg, you're starting to concern me with all of these weird looking hippie mobiles you've taken interest in lately. I just want to go ahead and call dibs on the dime and the wagon, before you sell your fleet for a Prius and its too late.

Oh, I wouldn't drive it either

When you have 10 kickass cars, you can have a weird one or two...

Besides, I like not buying gas (for the weird ones). :)

f*** idiots! Quit making electric cars goofy! Nobody would buy these mechanical abominations even if they had a 400hp engine and a decent price tag. Why would they buy them if you put an electric motor in it and quadrupled the price?

PEOPLE DON'T LOOK AT CARS AND SAY "my look at that impressive drag coefficient." They buy cars that they like that also meet their various needs in a pleasing balance.

Stupid a** university professors understand d!ck cheese about aesthetically pleasing designs. This is why professors don't understand any-f***-thing about the real world. They hide on campus and play thought games all their life with no consequence for failure. f***, car companies don't have tenure! If they don't design something that pleases the consumer nobody buys the products and they die.

This is how they should look.

Image

Develop the technology and leave the design to people who actually understand consumer tastes and can deliver what they want. They will figure out how to implement your nifty s*** into a package that doesn't make us want to pour angry bees into our eyes. This should give you more time to quid-pro-quo fingerbang your grad students in exchange for passing grades, a**.

In summation "no, I wouldn't drive it."

No, I wouldn't drive it. Even with the impressive 0.19cd.

But speaking of electric cars, not 10 minutes ago I saw this commercial:

I'd drive that.

That does look kewl. They have to make entry-level affordable EVs, though. They can not grow the market on high-end niche cars.

^This.

This is why I do not have a Leaf. We can buy a lot of gas for $34,000.

To hell with that. Fish are for the sea. I'll die with a Datsun in my driveway. I don't care if they're 80 years old. I'll find a way to keep them running.

If someone gave me the OP's car, I wouldn't sell it, but I don't think I'd buy one. I'm with AZ on the new Nissan EV coupe concept. I'm STOKED for it.

Combine this^ with the "solar pavement" idea, and it might start to get worth it....

I would rather risk a ride in Nala's date rape QX4.
At least there is a slim chance that girls might be in it.
Either way, I'd wager that it is less repulsive than that turd.

I'd probably drive it, but I wouldn't buy one ... I've not owned something less than 7 yrs old since I bought a Honda new in (late) 1991, so I'm not the target.

It will be interesting to see if/when they move to an inline seating position concept for 2, 3 & 5 passenger vehicles.

I most definitely would NOT drive it. But I appreciate it for what it is: another attempt at advancing electric car tech.

I saw this tandem 2-seater EV at SEMA a few years back.

Image

It's called the Tango. It looks ungainly and top-heavy, but because of the motor/battery placement it actually has a very low center of gravity. Supposedly, with lithium-ion batteries, it has a 150mile battery life and can quick-charge to 80% capacity in 10 minutes. Unfortunately it costs over $100k.

It seems like the narrow windshield and (relatively) thick A-pillars would leave the driver with a less-than-ideal forward field of view.

I wan to take that portion completely out of context and use it in my signature now...

As for why we're really here... Is it wrong if I said I wouldn't drive it in white... I realize that for a fish I could probably pick on some other flaw... it's no Roadster... but it seems practical on the inside and I may be compelled to give it a chance if 1) I needed a car, 2) it was in my price range, 3) I was desperate for an EV for some reason (yet had the cash to fork out for one... not sure if those are contradictory or not...) and 4) it came in a color that would maybe accentuate it's total non-serious car attributes... like neon blue? Or maybe I could just slaughter all hope and just take the white one but give it neon pink and electric blue stripes... completing it's fish-like appearance. (also, this sorta reminds me of the 'aerodynamic Versa' somebody made by applying panels to a sedan to make it more efficient...)

I'd pay about tree fitty for it.

...not because it gets awesome gas mileage, not because it achieves a drag coefficient that is entirely unimpressive when you think about how GM did it way back in the 90s (and looked better btw)

but because I'd like to see the look on some redneck's face when you absolutely DESTROY them in a sprint to 60 in the ugliest, gayest thing on 4 wheels since a rainbow painted Capri.
