Hi everyone, first time poster, so be nice!

Theres a '93 240sx convertible I just put a deposit on, to see what you think.

It's '93, Has SR20DET redtop, stock internals, w/ custom rad and electric fans. Upgrades to fuel system, suspension, exhaust, stage 2 clutch, blitz blow off valve, etc... Extremely clean inside and out, and really want this car, as I helped a friend a while back to a motor swap in his. It's seriously clean as hell, only 2 owners, swap was done just last year, never winter driven, only 166k on body, and less then 60k on the motor.. Has beauty 18 inch rims, alarm, nice dvd stereo etc etc.. Theres no rust, all the windows and interior stuff is in good shape, original top, but spotless. Painted in '06, black on black leather, black top.

Basically, i was looking for a 240 to build, and stumbled across this beauty along the way. Basically ready to go, with all the mods I would be doing if I were to buy stock already done, and quite well I might add.

Basically, I'm paying $9000.00 Canadian for this car, fully safety certified, and was wondering if anyone could talk me out of it? Price is right???

Thanks for the help!

I have engine pics, but not linkable yet. I love how it's such a sleeper, but has some serious upgrades like redtop!

Let me know what you think

sounds great... 9000 seems a little steep

I'd say more like 7K or 8K tops

9K is about what it would cost to buy a 160K mile vert and then do all those mods yourself, the benefit of doing it yourself is that you know it was done right, the benefit of buying it done is the cost savings... and at 9K you're not saving much.

Price is about right.

When you say "no rust", are you looking up inside the strut towers? Did you pull the back seat out and look under the carpet? Also, check the trunk for hydraulic ram leakage.

If it's clean, that's about what a nice droptop and an SR swap will cost.

The guys who say it cvan be done for less are forgetting all the little crap that you have to buy...

$3-4K car$3K SR$1K fresh paint

Clutch, fans, bov, suspension, belts, hoses, fluids, fuel system - all that stuff adds up.

Mine's cost me 3.5k so far, including buying the car but I got a crackhead deal on a wrecked car with the swap already in it, and sold some stuff off of it that I didn't need, which I've deducted from the price.

I don't have the paint/suspension/top yet, but I don't think I'll have that much in it even after a front end swap.

but to do it like that you either have to be patient or lucky with your parts search. So far, I've been lucky.

And what condition was the engine and transmission? IIRC it was smoking and unable to shift out of first...

I'm looking at a nice one one right now for 3.2K

the asking price matches the KBB value

I'm asking for a few more pictures before I make a move on it since it's a haul of a drive from where I am and I'd rather be sure about it before I spend the gas and time.

Fresh paint is nice but it can also hide deeper problems... While the car I just posted looks nice the owner is having trouble taking a picture of the engine bay for me... which makes me wonder if I really want to buy it.

For some reason here in Canada verts sell for way more than in the States. They are pretty hard to come by too, a decent one with no mods cost upwards of 5-7K , with mods ,even more. I say 9K is not a bad deal if the car is how you said it was. Mine is not even close to being done and its cost me more than 9 grand, and I havent even touched the engine

car-2000wheels-1500tires-900body kit-1200body work-2000 so far + 2500 more when its donenew top-400exhaust-200recaros-600silvia converision-500coilovers-1000plus all the little misc stuff- god knows
