2007 Altima 2.5s. My only concern is the CVT. Read the horror stories on forums. What should I look and listen for? Is it worth it or should I pass?

Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't buy any Nissan CVT. My '11 Altima SR is in the danger zone at 71k miles. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Don't even think about it. If you want a manual try a newer model year if you can, but stay away from any used CVT. Personally I will never buy another car with CVT.

I know people say CVTs have changed, and probably all the people with issues are a minority, but what I see is a big number. See previous posts on this forum alone about CVTs, something you wouldn't see with other automatic trans. I think I'm lucky mine drove for about 220,000 Km before any problems. I have read and hard about people with CVTs failing really early, like 13,000 Km. I just read a comment from a guy worried about his CVT and he's only got 71k miles.

So I say no.
