An older guy who's been a mechanic for a loooong time recently told me that cars weren't built for the 'abuse' that performance upgrades provide and that if you add a lot of performance parts to your car you're increasing your chanes of it malfunctioning sooner than it normally would because of the wear and tear. We weren't talking about Nissans, at the time we were takling about Subaru's but he meant it as a generalisation. .

in the absolute loosest sense yes it is true. but at that same degree of looseness you could say cars are not designed for wide open throttle used liberally every day all day either. that is true. they are not. then you could get into a real analysis. high rpms tend to be rough on connecting rods, forced induction can move you closer to the detonation threshold, and more gas pedal will mean more load. this does not really matter to me though because i know that 98% of cars go to the junkyard because of a)collisionb)lack of maintenancec)its just a piece of junk non-nissanit is quite rare for a well maintained and non-wrecked nissan to retire. they just dont. i have taken every part of a nissan apart and checked it all out. they are built tough. now in the last few years there has been some selective cheapening of some parts but all in all nissan remains on top for durability(especially in the face of abuse).

so there.
