sounds like a stupid question but im serious here...ive been able to save a pretty penny over the last month (3K+) and im getting a hold of a second CA, simply put im thinking of just going on an all out rebuild, Tomei piston/rods,valves,cams,cam gears,Cometis HG,Sportsline(i think is the name cant search at work ATM) preformance timing belt, lifters springs,

it will be combined with an T2871 and Fcon system, 3'' pipping, stage 2 clutch, single piece driveshaft...sounds like slight over kill but this car is going ot be straight track by the end of this year early spring next year...

giving a nice tune and i should be good to go...

what do u guys think...anyone else i should go with to do this...seeing as im new to the CA world i just wanna see what my peers say abot this...seeing as how im only surrounded by Sr's left and right i want to rep for the CA community strongly and tear em a new one whenever i get the chance

Having Tomei build a motor for you is a bit extreme because you're still going to need a decent engine management to take advantage of the cams they'll probably put in the motor. If you're really willing to spend some loot, you need to first figure out what you really want, If you really need some help in determining that, drop me an email and I'll at least point you in the most cost-effective direction. I was just in L.A. today, too. If this was posted yesterday, we could've met-up and talked cars.

What kind of numbers are you planning on? I really don't see the need for tomie, but it would be bad *** if you did it...

So are you physically sending the block/head to tomei in japan or are they also based in america?

I would think it will cost you more than three grand, to me it seems a very small budget for this project..

tomei offer different levels of build stage 1-4 I believe.

they already have a built CA waiting for you if your really serious.

hope you have deep-*** pockets man Tomei is very proud of their product.

3k will cover shipping and a turbo perhaps some cams.

ill try to respond as best as possible

boost_boy: im planing to either run an Fcon or megasquirt , might as well not cherap out and go straight standalone

Two-Fortee: honestly since im building the motor for straight track use im looking for something along the lines of 30-350 to the wheels... not just a drift car but an all around autox er

meminto :i believe they have a US based shop and shipping wouldnt be a big deal to be honest...the company i work for owes me so much in late hours my boss is willign to put it on the company dime to ship back and fourth...so f it

articzap: true if i go all out on it...but if theres a chance of not needing everything listed to reach a safe high numbers then im willing to learn and take advice...

ks13: i only see Sr's no CA, im stikin to CA mah friend...

boost_boy: dang i wish it would have....ill def hit u up via email

Buy cams, pistons, rods, etc. and send it all (plus longblock) to Cosworth. That would be siiiiiiick, and they are based in the US of A. Cosworth has been building stupid sick engines for longer than most.

yea its going to be hard to find TOMEI advertising CA long blocks as TOMEI pulled out of the CA game.

you would have to contact them and see what they say, same thing goes for pistons/rods etc.

they pulled out, but still make parts to order once there is enough demand.

nothing to be worried about.

has to do with percentage of silicon content in piston

when cold, the pistons dont expand AS fast as say a CP piston and you get whats called piston slap where the skirts of the piston can be heard contacting the cylinder wall.

sounds bad but its nothing to worry about, anyone running Wiseco pistons care to share their experiences?
