I want to buy an mp3/cd player quickly and i have a Nissan maxima 2000, without bose. It has only a very basic player. Now i picked out a decent player thats not too cheap or too expensive. What do you guys think and most importantly WOULD IT work with my car? can i just slip it in, connect the wires and expect it to play ?

it should work. i have a Pioneer H/U that does MP3/WMA playback and a 12'' sub in my car and the only advice i can give u is get it professionally installed. I got the H/U installed but did electrical work myself and man, what a nightmare ive had. This max is full of obstacles, but i still love her to death. Nissan/Infiniti for life.

I have an '01 maxima and I installed a Pioneer Deh-P7800 with the ipod adapter. I installed and wired everything, and I would say it wasn't that difficult. I ordered mine from Crutch_ield, so the install instructions came with it along with the DASH KIT and the WIRING HARNESS which you will need also. I did have some problems with the flat head metric screws that held the radio to the mount bracket, as they were so tight they wouldn't break loose and I ended up having to slot them with a dremel cutoff wheel to get enough torque on them to get them out. They weren't needed for the new installation. The wiring kit enables you to wire everything outside of your car where it is much easier to work and then simply plug it into the car. Get a good set of wire strippers and a good set of crimpers. Use butt connectors and make sure you crimp them good. Nothing to be afraid of, just leave yourself ample time to work on it so you can take your time and do it right. Nothing quite as satifying to me as finishing an install myself.
