Would this be worth it?

I shop by my house has a project S13, and recently due to all the rains in the NE the shop got flooded out and they are scraping all the cars. The 240sx had a t3/t4 intercooled turbo kit, had MSD ignition stuff, turbo timer, low mileage KA, 5 lug swap with brembo's, some sort of nice 17" rims with new tires. The interior wasnt in the car during the flood, and I know the waters went up as high as 2 1/2 feet. I'm thinking of picking the car up and then parting it out, or selling it whole because it was a decent shell. It was freshly painted as of last week. I know they wanted upwards of $7,000 when it was in the shop, and I can grab it for cheap. Any input?

I would but, I have to have it towed here by tomorrow if I want it. I don't even have time for pictures, but I did work at that shop for a while and checked the car out while I was there. All the body panels on the car have been replaced. And if I told everyone how cheap I was getting it, everyone from MA, RI, CT would probably be calling every shop within 50 miles of me .

My main question is, after a car is flooded, will it start? I'm not so much concerned with the body, I'm concerned about the kit and the engine.

The question is: Did "smart" people try to start it before making sure all traces of water were gone from the car? Water damage can be done in many ways. Simple harness replace to engine rebuild if an attempted start was tried with the water in the intake/exhaust. You really have to go look at the car yourself and ask as many questions as you can. If you do buy the car, make sure to use a chassis with a clear title. Resell on a salvage/rebuild title is hard and many people will use it as a point to lower the price.

Yeah, flood damage can be a lot more than it looks. If they didn't try to start the car since the flooding, you might have a shot at running it. I bet that if you get the car, the money you save from not getting a "not flooded" car will get spent getting the flood car working right. If you're up for a project, then go for it. If you think you're just getting a sweet deal on a just-as-good-as-any-other S13, then get the K-Y.
