Good Morning All,While the quest for ANY aftermarket parts is a fruitless endevour for us Y34 folks, I am curious about the Jet Chips ecm update for das Q. Given the similarities it might be possible. Here's to hoping.CheersMark

Well I am speaking to Jet as I write, it seems it can be done. From what the gent said, the increase would be 16 h.p. The cost $499.00. I suppose then we could say we got 351 h.p. What I do not know is if this would run afoul of the warranty. At this point I am glad there is at least something out there.Mark

Depending on the model Q (F50) some of them share the same exact part number ECM as the M (Y34)...

Someone please be the Guinea pig. I'd pay $500 fro 16 more horses, but I don't want to be the first to do it and find out it jacked something up.

My thoughts exactly. Perhaps we can all "chip" (get it) in for a brave soul. The only thing stopping me is warranty fears. I am still happy to know there is something we can do at a relatively cost effective price.Forgive the punMark

Looking at their website it looks like they can do a custom upgrade for 03 up to 06 M's.

15+ horses and better gas mileage and the governor disabled?

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Whoever plans on doing this needs to dyno their car in the morning a few times for a baseline and then ship the ECM to them to be able to get it back the next day for another dyno run, so we can see what the dyno says.If anybody wants to send me the money to have this done, I would be the guinnea pig. Id pay for dyno time, plus I have a couple other cars that I would be able to drive so leaving it for a day or two wouldnt be a problem at all.Cheers

I seriously might want to chip in. Oh no, I cannot stay away from the puns. Given your knowledge Auditech, what are your thoughts on ECM remapping and the like?Mark

Mark, I have drivin turbo'd cars(Audis) that have been chipped and there is a very noticable difference even with stock turbos. BUT on a naturally aspirated car, although I have never driven one that was chipped, I cannot see there being a noticable difference. I would say to open the intake and exhaust first then have it chipped to take more advantage of that, but otherwise I think it is a waste of money.

Auditech,That was what I was afraid of. Turning off the speed limiter sounds cool though I would be suprised if I ever got that close to even the 145 M.P.H cutoff. I knew turbo diesel trucks have amazing results with reprogramming as well. Still sounds worthwhile I think.M.L

Well someone go for it??? We should ask them how many Q45 customers have purchased one and maybe we can contact them on one of the forums....or HOW ABOUT if we ask them if we are the first customer and let us have one for free...(il be the goat) and test and if it works well...we will purchase more...think that will work???

I agree that it is time to get off the pot. I have recently reverted back to full scale audio dorkery on my home rig. I think it is having to listen to the stock system in the M. Thus I have grown complacent about the car. Someone should post on the Q forum about the ECM. I am quite curious what our cars would do without the limiter,Cheersmark

I hear mostly lack luster results about chips on NA cars. Turbo cars usually have great results as they crank up the boost via the ECU.

I am wanting to do pullies for us with dyno proven 10 whp gain $450 shipped. Any takers? I would like to do a GB!

Thanks, Kyle

Greetings, Well after going to Q45 forum (great forum), infinitifx.org , and it seems many others, I must conclude that the juice is not worth the squeeze on the ECM flash thing. If I lived in Montana back when the speed limit was "reasonable and prudent day/ 65 at night" then maybe. I would love to know what the car is good for unfettered by the limiter. I am still stoked to know there is something out there. I am impressed how passionate the FX45 guys are about trying to maximize the VK45. It seems a number of them employed Technosquare to do some extensive remapping to the ECM/TCM. The catch was one of the members cars was required to stay there for a few weeks for testing. Then again, I believe he had a spare 911 to dull the blow. Most seemed quite pleased.CheersM.L

So am I understanding the FX45 and M45 have the same engine? Drivetrain as well except the FX is AWD?

This will be an interesting topic!KTW

Greetings, There seems to be a bit of debate amongst the FX'ers whether or not the VK45 in the FX is the same or not. Some members believe that the lower rating 315 vs. 340 is simply marketing to justify the Q45 being the flagship at the time. Others believe that the lower rating is because the FX is equipped for towing. It seems one of the main reasons many owners went with an ECM flash was to bring the horsepower up to the Q/M rating.I believe this information is correct. My mistake if not.CheersMark
