Ok i know running 87oct. gas isnt good for the car and after i burn through what i got left, all the car will see is 93 octane. So my question is my car still hesitates once it hits boost like its a bad MAF sensor.Ive fixed all the boost leaks, set the timing correctly, checked the MAF it was good everythign is good.So that leads me to my question would 87 octane gas make it run that way?I getting ready to swap the RB25 over into my vert and i want it to go a little smoother this time.

Thanks in advance guys.

Its just what was left in the tank thats all,There was almost a half tank,i havent got on it really but just even pulling out of my drive way, easy, not even in boost its hesitates like theres a boost leak.It happens around the usal 3k-4k rpm mark.

get off your 87. And make sure your pump is up to par.

You shouldn't put 87 in period. The lowest they have out here is like 90 octane and you shouldn't run that. This is all assuming you have a stock ECU and tune BTW.

Lastly, you have to be high to run 87 AND boost it. At the very least granny it around until you get the crap out of there.

Do you guys think it hurt anything? Ive got into boost maybe a total of 3 times,I havent driven the car much b/c i didnt know what was wrong with it.The fuel light is on in the car so tomorrow im gonna get better gas and put it in it and make sure my timing is correct again.Would running lower octane fuel cause it to hesitate? Im paranoid now, i hope i didnt screw up my engine.

drive it to the station and stay out of boost until u dillute it with better gas. im sure it wont hurt as long as you stay out of boost.

I once put an entire tank of 87 in my car! lol. What a dumbass... I was spacing out at the pump and wondered why it was so cheap when I got done!

No damage, stay out of boost. I wonder if the car is pulling lots of timing and making it run like poop.

Also, I am wondering if the issue is just plain bad fuel... How much is left? I would be tempted to pull the fuel line off the rail and pump the tank out into a gas can if there is a significant amount left.

Thats what i was thinking,it might be pulling timing and making it run like crap.Like i said ive proably driven the car a total of 8 times in a year b/c i couldnt find what was wrong with it.

i dont the exact amount left but the fuel light is on,i was trying to let it run out so i could put new better fuel into it.

terrible idea.best way to get rid of "old fuel" is to dillute it with the proper, new fuel.

all you are doing by draining your gas tank after it has sat with 87 is putting gas that has sat and settled (probably not stable anymore) into an engine not meant for 87 octane. On top of that, draining the tank that has sat with bad gas in it, you are gathering all of the gunk and sludge that has gathered over the years at the bottom of your gas tank and sending it through your lines.

I'd recommend you put 93 octane (highest around here) with a thing of fuel stabilizer in it for starters. Drive that around until it is done without going into boost much, and then repeat the process for 2-3 more tanks.

Getting below 1/4 of a tank of gas in these old cars/gas tanks is a bad idea.

****!!!,i hope i havent screwed up my car,i think im just gonna wait untill i put it into the vert and drop the tank on the vert and go have it cleaned and sealed or get a new one that way i will have a clean slate. How would i know if ive screwed up anything like whats in the pic above? Ive never had the car at full throttle, but i have boosted it.

haha well for starters your car would not run.... i made 1 pull with my truck and it was good through firstt and second gear but right after shifting to third the motor quit - dead silence - it would have been more exciting if there was an explosion or something lol

lol

Maybe my car is okay,it idles great great and drives great up untill those certain rpm numbers.Like i said before im not even going to start the car untill i get it into the vert, with a clean gas tank.Im praying that i havent screwed anything up.

yeah you should be fine if its still running now - but not driving it is a good idea because we all know how impossible it is to drive a boosted car and not boost on it lol

i have a question regarding fuel. Is it safe to run AvGas that is usually 100 octane rating> there s an air port near by that i go to to fuel up my Yamaha banshees, and they run better with it then the 91 or whatever. will it hurt my fuel system? i heard it might "wash down the cylinder walls" but i think thats only if the car is not tuned for it, and the additives in it, although im unsure what they are, would clean the gunk and stuff. Its around 4 dollars a gallon now, but its still cool i think

Id really like to run an injection system to help me boost. prolly most cost effective.

Don't bother dropping the tank.Just buy the highest octane gas you can get and fill her up ALL the way.Still don't boost.

Till you run that down to less that 1/4 then fill her up again all the way with the highest you can get.

I highly doubt that Av Gas will wash your cylinders. That usually happens when your dumping too much fuel.Like leaky injector, bad tune or bad messages from sensors.
