my phone sucks. no clue if i'll ever even get 2.1. A netbook or a tablet would look a bit more professional than a phone when face to face with clients.

Not as well made, but cheaper, and not available yet.
Agreed, just tossing another option out there. I will be happy to see some other Android tablet options on the market, I don't like making decisions based one on or two options when i'm spending that much money.

I think I will end up with a tablet eventually but the price has to be right. I could see myself buying an iPad once they start selling refurb units, all I really need is something that I can do basic web editing on and browse the web when i'm not at the office.

If you travel and are meeting clients in various places, I would go for a tablet. If you're going to meet with clients in an office more often then a netbook would be fine. I would agree the tablet might have a more professional look if you're not looking to do really heavy tasks on it, the plus to a netbook would be having a physical keyboard and it running an actual OS so you'll be able to run a lot more programs with less restrictions.

The only 3 uses I've seen out of an iPad are

1. Dude on a plane using it as a book reader
2. I went to an orthopedic specialist who had an app that let him reference bones, joints, muscles and all sorts of injuries for patients to understand what they're dealing with.
3. As a TouchPanel. I'm debating on incorporating them into my A/V systems. Companies like Crestron and AMX now have iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch apps that sync up to their systems(network based) and you can control everything from the ac/heating units, TV's, security cameras, drapes, lights and basically anything electric. In this situation the only benefit I see is cost because a normal 12" TouchPanel retails around $5K and that doesn't include programming which can be extremely expensive. Here's a few pics of what some people have done. I've never actually used one myself and up until now have only seen it as an overpriced toy.

I've seen a lot of compaines doing that too - it seems like a great way to make good use out of the tech, seeing as sourcing it all privately used to cost these companies upwards of a $1000 for the stuff.

Only other thing I saw someone use it for was as a scorebook at a little league baseball game. Apparently there's an app that acts like a scorebook instead of having to write everything down the old way. Seemed pretty cool, minus the fact that the dude couldn't see it in the sun.

Just found this. I thought it was pretty cool. Obviously a bit more expensive.
