I would really like to have a CF trunk for my 'vert. But nobody makes them regularly. There just aren't enough 'verts out there to make it profitable for a business to do. So, I would have to have one custom made. That would be rediculously expensive... unless.... I could find some other people who are also interested.

I called Raceonusa to inquire about getting a Carbon Fiber trunk lid made for the 240 'vert. I think they make them for S13 and S14 coupes.

They said that if I paid for the mold, they would go ahead and make me one. Once it was made, I would be able to get more at a normal price.

So, I want to gauge interest in the product. If I could get somewhere between 5 and 10 people to participate it might spread out the cost enough on the mold to make it a worthwhile purchase for everyone.

This is not a group buy yet! I am not advertising something for sale... This is still R&D to gauge interest in the possibility of creating a product.

Anybody ever ordered from RaceOn? How's there quality? Anyone have any other ideas on who to work with? VIS? I have a wholesale account with Origin/D-drug/version:Select... I am going to talk to them about it as well.

Obviously the first question that everyone will ask is.. What would it cost. I gather the first one would cost around $1000 to have custom made. After that it should be pretty reasonable. Obviously I don't have any fixed costs on this yet, but I would think if 5 people ordered, the cost would spread out to around $300 to $350 each. Just a guess at this point.

Does anybody know of any direct manufacturers that we might be able to contact and work with?

Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

^ Yep.

It's the same, just mounts differently IIRC.

I am pretty sure the 'vert trunk is different. I will admit that I have never acutally measured them. But I think with the space for the convertible trunk to fold into, the 'vert trunk is shorter than the coupes.

Can anyone verify that for me?

It would be nice if they were the same. I would be happy to buy one designed for the coupe if it fits.

*EDIT*... Greg just beat me to posting again. I sure didn't think they were the same size. You sure Greg? All the pictures I have seen look like the coupe trunk is bigger?

the space that the top occupies is where the rear shelf would normally be on a coupe. That's why we have a decent amount of space while the top is up in the trunk, and then it dissappears when the top goes down. The trunk lids are the same

Yep... you guys are right. I posted another thread asking for a measurement. Both trunks are 20.5" in length from window to end. All S13's should be the same width... so that's not an issue.

I just want to figure out how to mount the trunk shocks now so that when I save up my pennies I can get the CF trunk.

I am glad they used the same parts... that definitely makes life easier.

Thanks guys!

It'll bolt right up.

You'll keep your factory convertible trunk hinges, the shocks mount to those.

Quick and easy swap.
