I would really like to get a exhaust mani, but SSAC is about all that I can find for a reasonable $ (SGP wants like $700-$900 and a month). Would ceramic coating help, or am I stuck with some porting on my stock mani?

i would think that would cause it to crack even faster, as far as i know the coatings keep the heat in. but what do i know

Well, duh. The idea that i was entertaining was that the stresses of expansion and retraction on the metal could be lessened with a hard ceramic coating. I understand the purpose of the thermal retention of the coating, I was just wondering if any strength is gained with it.

But you guys just want to be a$$holes, so forget it.

It's worth a try if it messes up they are cheap enough to get another one down the road.

Well, I had one (but sold it for other mods before I installed it) and had it checked by a apprentice welder buddy of mine. He said it was sound (but not pretty). I was just wondering if the ceramic (or another coating) would help. I would just give it a shot, but the coating is more than the manifold

I actually thought about this last week cause I saw a internally coated manifold.I think they dipped it in coating, looked like ceramic and transported the heat fast through the manifold and out.

If this works I think you could use the SSAC manifold forever!

I'm well over a year on my SSAC mani and it's still fine. Any coating will void any potential warrenty it might carry.

I'm using the Roclian Garage manifold. It is equal length and works very well. Price is good too. I heard too many bad things about SSAutochrome.Besides these two companies, KAZAMA makes one for $1,050. Rare Trick stocks them, but who can afford it? Excellent JDM quality.

atleast if it cracks w/o coating, you'll eventually get a new one from warranty. but if it cracks after you get it coated, then you're out the manifold and whatever the cost for coating. I'm on a couple months of daily driving it and still no issues w/ mine

Well, I need to apologize then. We cool, we cool

Good point on the warranty. Since my gf is buying me a DS Lite, I am going to get a SSAC and give it a shot. I might take it to my welder buddy and get a little more work done to it first, though.

Yes, they're from Texas. I purchased the manifold on e-bay. Didn't really want to go cheap, but it is excellent quality.

Got a good manifold advice. Never buy chrome manifolds, they always hide bad metal and weldings under chrome.

All real race manifolds got pure steel look, like the Full Race ones.
