One major concern I have in buying my next car is insurance costs. By the time I'm ready to buy this summer I will be 21 with a clean driving record. Would getting a Y34 cause a disgusting jump in my insurance from a G20 or will the major factor still be my age?

My 2003 M45 insurance was about the same as my 1995 Q45. And, the 1995 Q45 was equal to my 1997 Acura (which we still have). In the past two to three years though, the Acura insurance has dropped about 25%, but the M45 has not yet done so.

So, I think that it is more based on age and location and theft rate of the car than anything else. At least, this seems to be true for what I pay State Farm here in California.

YMMV, of course!

It costs me $10 CAD more (per month) for the M35x than my 2003 Buick Regal GSI was very surprised at what the rate was for a care twice as as much as the buick!tk

My insurance for my M45 went up ~ $280/yr vs. my previous 2000 Mitsu Eclipse. But I'm not under 25 but also have a clean record. I think you'll be looking at a hefty increase considering your age. At 25 you'll see your insurance take a nice drop even if you're driving a beater.

Just call your current insurance company and ask.
