would a frontier engine work in a 240?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

friend is looking for a new motor for his s13 and there is a ton of froniers at the junk yard with the KADE and he has a KADE. so if we took the frontier engine and swapped the intake, exhaust, oil pan & pickup, and cams would it be basically the same as the stock s13 engine?? i searched and could not find the answer?

I think it would work with the parts switchovers you stated. I think the Frontier DE lacks piston oil squirters and may have press fit piston pins like the truck version of the E. As far as I know the compression is the same as the 240 DE.

Ok sweet I figured it would work. Don't think the squirters are a big deal. Anyone else know anything on the swap?

If it doesn't have squirters, you can get holes machined and press in the 240sx oil squirters.

Some single cam guys do this, and it works out fine.

What I mean is the squirters probably aren't a big deal. There is tons of cars that don't come with them. And don't the 240's have a bolt in squirters? So maybe if the frontier KA has plugs??? Well tommorow we are headed to the junk yard to find a low milage KA. And again if anyone else has any info please let me know thanks!

So we went to the junk yard and found out that the distributor is lower than the 240sx. So we would need to change out the timing cover/chains. No biggie. Now my friend needs tocome up with th money. Haha
