cant answer that question but I would also like to know what the difference is because it's hard to find a cheap intake for our more rare SOHC motors...................

No...not exactly.

The throttlebody position is close, but not right on. If you removed the fan shrouds, and got creative with the mountig points, you can make it work...as in, it will connect and locate the filter in basically the right place. But it's not a direct swap.

(The real difference is that the SOHC has a pipe than comes stright out, then a 90* bend. The DOHC TB faces up, so the pipe copmes out, then angles down, then a 90* bend...so a DOHC intake on you SOHC will come out, go down and inch or 2, then make the turn across the radiator...so the fan shroud or engine fan will be in the way.)

injen makes the short ram for the 89-90 though, why not just get that?

because the 91 intakes can be extended to become a cold air. and its easier to find 91 intakes than 90...

a lot of shops i know stock brand new 89-90 injen intakes, and the cold air extensions for them, if you go to http://www.injen.com/ , they have a dealer list, I'm sure you could find some up in nor cal, i see like modacar and stuff on there. normally for the sohc its around $200 for the intake and $125 for the cold air extension, or thereabouts.

well, my reason for wanting to know is that you can find 91-up intakes cheap on ebay

ah ya thats a good reason, being i dont really want to mess with stuff ill probably just leave the stock intake until i can afford the injen, probably next summer sometime, then get the ca extension eventually

yeah, it would be much easier, but I cant see spending $200 on a piece of pipe and an air filter is why I dont want to get a real injen. I mean $200 is half way to getting nos or something that adds larger amounts of hp..............
