I need a beginner car for my son to learn how to drive stick shift. I really don't want him practicing on my 350 so I found this old 200SX 5 speed Turbo on CL

http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/2266215002.html

Now at that price point, is it even worth it to go and check it out?

Thanks guys!

Dude, that's an awesome deal on a 200SX Turbo! Even with those issues, if it runs and drives, you may be able to get by with a gasket job, turbo rebuild and windshield replacement (If the crack bothers you, that is). Body is in excellent condition!

Thanks Ace. Its only 750 bucks, and I do not intend for my son to use it as a daily driver. Just to learn how to drive stick shift :D

Great, I'll go ahead and swing by this guy's place.

Any idea on how much a turbo rebuild will cost? I believe the car is non intercooled, but for a car like this, it's not too big of a deal I assume?

You might want to check the ad again before you make the trip. I show it's been flagged for removal, so it might have been a scam.

Hmm.. I don't see it now. Was the flag removed?

Someone flagged it because they wanted to buy it for themselves. 200SX turbos are pretty rare now, and one for that cheap is hard to get.

No, I mean that when I click the link the page says "This posting was flagged for removal".

this. it's a really common technique on craigslist; you flag the post so that nobody else has access to the information, so you can swoop in on it.

It's absolutely deplorable, but effective too. :gotme

I wish they would actually moderate the pages better, but I guess when you're that huge, it's hard to care to much about it.

Only if you had clicked on it before and hadn't cleaned out your history yet. Then you could view the cached version.
