Since it is 2016, I was wondering if it would be worth getting a 300zx? I am currently a college student soon to be out. I already have a daily driver. I have always loved this car of course I want to upgrade and give it a nice tuning job on it. I have been saving up for a 300zx TT for a while. Soon i will purchase one, if it is reasonable. Of course I am going to make sure the car checks out fine. I have heard the maintenance can be expensive. I have also heard these cars are super reliable. I was thinking about getting a 91'-95' model. Just wanted your guys and girls opinions on this. Thank you

Unless you're ready to do all the troubleshooting and repair work on your own, you're better off with a 350Z. The cost of a good Z32 is about the same as a decent 350Z. Difference being the 350z is more serviceable , has fewer proprietary parts and your local dealer actually knows how to work on it. Also being newer it's going to be more reliable and get better fuel economy.

But the 300 gets the coolness factor award.

Agreed with both, but as mentioned by evildky, for a person who does not have either specific knowledge of the Z32 and/or willingness to learn how to service it or suffer the consequences (spending even MORE $$$$$), going with a newer serviceable platform isn't a bad idea as the Z32 in less than 95% condition is a labor of love to deal with and NOT reliable at all, plus hard to find good mechanics who know the platform beyond the expensive parts.
So factor that into your thinking, read up on the build threads here, and see the stickies and tech section for common tupgrades and issues with this car before you commit to the Z32, ESPECIALLY a TT.
They are great cars when in perfect condition, less so the further from that point they are and with a serious weakness for missed maintenance which is extremely common to the platform, given the above advise.
From long personal experience here...do your homework and do not go off the online "satisfaction" ratings (It's a 9 out of 10!) that are more about how cool the owner thinks his car is than how reliable it is to own and keep healthy for more than a few months.
