Post your worst speedtrap stories. I've never been caught speeding, i guess im lucky, but my friend has gotten two tickets in his S13 coupe, in like 3 weeks. Both on I-15 here in Utah, its like the nicest 15 miles of freeway in the united states or something like that. Its a huge nice expensive freeway reconstruction that took forever, and now they watch it like a hawk. We put up with freeway construction crap for like 5 years, and now we got this dope new road that we gotta drive slow on.

Today my friend tells me he got a ticket from an Airplane. Yep, an airplane. It was clocking tons of cars from the sky, they all got mass pulled over and got tickets for going like 80 in a 65 section of the freeway. Thats his second 80mph freeway ticket.

What is the point of funding a fudgin' airplane to catch people going 80mph? Hey lets spend a ton of money, then rape the general public via traffic tickets to recover some of it. Thats what we pay taxes for, speed trap airplanes!

They're doing that over here now, but since I know (or have a general schedule) of when they fly I'll adjust my speed accordingly. The roads where cops run radar...thats a free for all, I know all their spots:D(Of course this is on the highway...city roads I don't speed much, too unsafe with the idiots around here)

Ok. here's a somewhat brief story:

i had a good friend who rally-crossed his Toyota Tercel. (go ahead and make fun, but he built a skidplate for it, made the intake, had a custom exhaust made, and it looked bada$$ with hella fog lights on the hood) he also drove it to and from PA to his job in Baltimore. He was driving on some rural stretch of road, behind a gravel truck that was dropping rocks on the road. So he passed it at a somewhat anger-induced 80mph. Well, apparently a helicopter was following over head and there was a nice speed trap waiting for him a 1/4 of a mile ahead. that's all i remember about the story. he's somewhat disappeared and i don't talk to him anymore.

on a side note, i heard that chester county, PA is really hurting for money so speed traps are being set up everywhere and people are being pulled over for dumb reasons and given astronomical tickets. i.e. my friend got pulled over last week at 2 a.m. for 'careless driving' and 'lack of valid registration'. when my friend skidded his parada's (in the rain, and parada's don't grip well in the wet)when he left a stop sign. the cop also said he was 'speeding excessively' although he never clocked him. most of those fines were $150 + a piece. when they really are supposed to be $75 or lower a piece. INSANE.

he better take it to court... Thats gonna be a b**** on the insurance.

I spin tires all the time on poorly taken care roads (all roads in dallas suck a**) ravaged by huge moving trucks and what not because all the asphalt roads have turned to gravel and everybody's sprinklers make the ground wet. And there has been an influx of rain over the past month.

but the LE are out in the School zones where it is so easy to speed. The hide behind peoples trees, cars, and what not waiting for someone to come down the road at 25 mph.

School zones i support them speed trapping, its everybody's kids out there. But 25 and under should be warning only. 26+ and you got yourself a nasty ticket. Speeding in school zones is bad times. speeding anywhere that has even 1% chance of someones kid being out is bad times.

I go through 3 school zones on my way to school And its takes me 7 minutes to get to school... :( But I never speed nor do I ever see kids. No one walks to school anymore. Though i am not saying that speed zones shouldn't exist, just saying that I go through a lot of school zones during my 7 minute drive.

I here ya john. i drive to arlington each day and the roads are terrible. you need a damn SUV just to get there, and thats on normal streets. the other day, they had 4 cops on 121, 3 within a few hundred yards of each other. most were hiding behind signs and buildings. they're pretty damn crafty and clever.

has anyone seen the cops who look like they are working on their cars or working on the phone/power lines? they sit there and take radar and then get a motor cop down the street to get you. pretty bad stuff.

5 years ago i was takeing this girl home from one of my classes , was just takin it easy doing more talkin than driving (try to impress) , so i turn on this road that i take every day to school , speedlimit "45" so im going 45 like always (i was paranoid of tickets) and all the sudden this cop walks out into the road infront of me and points me over into this grassy feild . so im wondering whats up since i wasnt speeding . the cop asks "know why i pulled ya over boy " i said , my fog lights were on ? he goes "no , you know how fast you were goin?" i said , "yup 45 " he goes "at least your honest " so im like wtf , turns out the bastrd had a 35mph sign and a cordless screwdriver , poped me for 10mph over along with 12 other cars , and the son of the cheif of police (they let him go without a ticket) .....my insureace was still up cuz of that ticket till last month . speedlimit on that road is now 50mph and i check the signs every day i drive that road (shortcut to interstate for me) , i also now keep my digital camera in the car for this reason so next time i will have more proof in court . STUPID PASCO COUNTY FLORIDA !!!!! never thought of this rosco and pasco rhyme , coincidence ? i think not

yeah, we have fake road crews now. cherry pickers and all...another thing they do is keep their sirens on like they've pulled someone over (theyll have 2 cars)

then when u get past u realize the "pulled over car" is just a second patrol car. :(

HOLY CRAP stoney! that sucks!!!and the sad thing is, i could see it happening.

john, my friend was supposed to go to the station w/ proof of his ins. (because he didn't have it on him at the time) and a print-out from the PA transportation website about how much registration violation's should be. which they are supposed to be either $25 or $75 fines depending how the expiration date of the tag. cop fined him $150. so he was pissed when he found out.

next time just jump the bridge that's out and you won't have to worry about it.

or blow something up with your dynamite arrow, that should distract them.

I think the lamest reason I got a ticket(this wasn't a speed trap, but still really dumb, or rather ironic) was when I was driving my friends car in Nashville (he didn't have his license at the time, but he had a car:rolleyes) and I got pulled over (I was all like wtf? I wasn't speeding and I wasnt:)) because the registration sticker actually fell off the plate (I guess my friend didn't clean it when he stuck the sticker on) so we show the cop proof of registration and he's like "cool" then he asks to see everyone's ID.

Naturally it's the day I seem to have forgotten my wallet...

So I was left with a $20 (yeah, it's not a lot, but still an annoyance) for driving without a license. Pretty dumb, needless to say I check for my license out of habit before I drive now.

If any of you are in Dallas then watch out on I75 going north through Richardson. Big speedtrap up there. I saw 3 cop cars using radar from the bridge and 4 other cop cars near the access road to give chase.

Bastards...hehe

My worst speedtrap is getting caught by 2 different motorcycle cops in the same week on different days.

I was driving my crappy 1990 2 door Honda Accord and got a ticket for going 67 is a 65, in Harpersville, a small town in Alabama, on your way from Birmingham to Auburn. I was not real happy. I knew the town was a speed trap, but I thought I was ok, until I started hitting the reduced speed zones. The cop was verry adamant aobut the speed limits. There is usually only 2 officers on duty at any given time. One at each end of town, giving out tickets.

The story doesn't end there. I slowly made my way through town, until I hit the 55 MPH sign. I was being passed by a Tahoe, and a Freightliner was right behind him. I was cruising about 52 MPH. The Tahoe passed, then started slowing down. The truck jerked to the right, and spun me in front of him. I was pushed about 250 yards down the road with a headlight 4" from my left cheak. 160,000 lbs is hard to stop.

The scary part, is when my car pealed away from the front of his truck, the driver's door was pulled open by his bumper, and my automatic seatbelt motored forward. Needless to say, I was feeling a little vulnerable.

The same cop who gave me the ticket filled out the accident report.

He had the gall to say no, when I asked him to tear up the ticket. After all, if he hadn't stopped me, I would never have been run over by the Freightliner.

I went to court, and there wer 45 people there. Not too bad, for a weeks work for one officer. The judge had a no tolerance attitude, and I paid the fine.

Yeah... I actually live in Plano and just moved from Richardson. The cops love to sit on the bridge at Plano Parkway and gun folks going north late at night. I don't know how many times I've turned down Plano Parkway from the service road and seen a cop there. That's sneaky as hell.

The best place a cop hid that I've ever seen was right before Renner on the service road. US75 is about 10-15ft above the service road there, and the cop backed in against the back wall of the side part of the overpass. If I hadn't seen him backing across the service road to get into his hiding spot I would have never seen him until it was too late. Of course, I do drive near the speedlimit at night though, for that precise reason.

Louisiana has some of the most anal cops I've ever seen. On I49 down about 30 miles before it meets I10 they are out in force 24/7. In Summer of 2001 I got pulled over by the same cop that had pulled my mom over two years prior. I never even saw him until he turned the flashers on. And I had seen two cops within a span of 5 minutes with people pulled over. Damn cruise control fluctuation. :/

raced one of those bimmer SUV's in my golf..... it was more of a balls competition for top speed rather than acceleration (i'm not that ignorant)

i finished the race at 175 km/h in an 80 zone, with the bimmer behind me but slowing down. FYI this was a very LONG and very EMPTY stretch of road with no housing or anything. Anyway we both slowdown back to 80 at the upcomming light and keep on cruzin cuz after that its a residential area.

all of a sudden cop behind both of us, and he nabs us at a red light, told the woman behind me to pull over, then came to my side and told me to pull over.

he was in an undercover car in the opposite lane with a radar that measures incomming speed, no one would ever suspect that, because we both where slowing down for the regular cop spots on that road, then blasted on the strait.

He nabbed be doing 150 when i was still accelerating, thank god he didnt clock me at my top speed :D , he would have probably told me to get out of the car at gun point!!!

anyway i got a 350 dollar ticket + 4 demerit points, 6 months later i show up to court he doesnt, get the ticket written off

and i have NEVER sped exsessivly ever since.

yesteday... the 30... i was going like 90-100 on an empty road... the 126W to ventura if anyone knows... i was like... wow... no lights... pretty freaky... no cars... i slow down bc i dont usually drive that fast ... i usually go like 70/80 on the freeway... cop pulls me over for going like 81 in the 65 zone...

thats two speeding tickets in like 4 days... and theyre my first tickets ever !... DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO T_T... someone help me... and i just heard traffic school to erase the point can only be done once every 18 months...

i assume in both cases they radared you

call up their respective HQ's and ask for radar gun callibration records before you go to court

then go to court

if they dont show, your a free man

if they do, you can either BS, make up an exuse, and if they didnt have their guns callibrated you can simply say that you where not doing that speed and they cant say ****

hope for the worst tho, if anything you can plea and get a reduced fine.

when the cop pulled me over, he said that the fine cant be reduced anymore, that he put a special "code"on it, i asked the prosecutor what my options where ( after the cop didnt show) and he said they would have offered me a reduced fine, go figure.

a few months after i got my license, some friends and i were goin home from school in my car. we decided it would be fun if my friend in the passenger seat steered :rolleyes anyway, this car started tailgating us so i sped up and he sped up too. we sped up more and he did the same, riding my tail the whole time. my friend was still steering btw.then this well known speed trap was comin up, so i took the wheel again and slowed down, and the car behind us pulled off the road as we passed the speed trap, and he stopped right by the police car that was hiding.pretty soon the police car came after me and pulled me over.cop said that it was an off duty officer following me and he said i was doing 68 in a 35 and driving erradically (haha he didnt' know my friend was steering).i got off with a warning. i guess cause the cop didn't see me do jack with his own eyes. stupid off duty cop!

My cousin saw some1 get pulled over by a taxi. He also got pulled over by a 7 series BMW with florida liscense plates. When the cop got out he was waerin a NY police uniform. Turns out that he got off with a warning. Ive seen them in S10s, Astro Vans, F150s, Mustangs, Firebirds, and a POS Cavelier used for speed traps that look like somethings wrong with the car when there is a guy with a radar on the other side. This **** really pisses me off. They're freakin everywhere. I still speed a lot, but I kinda know where some of them hide. Ive only had my lisence since late June or mid July(not sure which, but out of most of my friends I havent got a ticket yet. Maybe Ill learn when I get 1.

yeah, we had cops taggin people in this contruction zone i drive through. really sucks cause its been like that and will be like that for a while. hehe, as for the cars. in farmers branch, my grandparents are in real good with the city people. they're good friends with the mayor and city commerce and police. well, the police department bought a nasty old beat up multi-colored something to use as the beater-snatcher. i thought that was pretty funny. well they also told me they bought a bright green caddie to use for prostitution stings. hehe, nothing funnier than having your very conservative 70 y.o grandmother asking her college attending grandson if he knows what a pimp is :D
