You never worked on a car? That's blowby gas and oil from the crank case.

Nope, until i got the car.Usually it was just watching everyone else do what they did.Yeah and i figured that out after I realized that's the very thing the catch tank helps prevent. Before then, the ventilation just ran straight into the intake.

yeah, clean that crap off there, and clean it off your throttle body and lower plenum..... usually just rub with a rag, no cleaner necessary.....

the power gain is there but seat in pants feel takes a significant increase in power, being the vq is well tuned and the fact its na is a big contributing factor to a small power gain. start throwing some boost a good cam kit and it will be worth your money. the only stupid question is the one not asked.
