not necessarily the installing part or anything (not *too* much, heh), but i am worried about the wiring part. all the sensors, like neutral sensor, 5th gear sensor and reverse. am i going to have to dummy rig this stuff from the sensors on the auto somehow? i have the FSM and stuff, but, i dont' do electrical stuff well at ALL, so, i'm worried. i have alot of people going to be there helping do this, some of which have electrical experience, but it still worries me. anyone have any ideas or prefably experience with this?

I currently don't have reverse lights and i'm working on that. All i hooked up from the manual harness was the speed sensor. I currently have the speedo and rpms and cruise control. I don't have a govenor anymore. If you can get the manual wiring harness i suggest you use it and just bypass the neutral saftey sensor. To bypass the saftey sensor there are two wires i believe black and red (12 gauge wires) you must wire these together and connect the bottom sensor in. Any other questions emaiul me. I can take a picture and send it to you of the neutral saftey sensor bypassed on my car. It might be hard taking the picture. but i will try. Nick

i haven't got the pic but i'll take it tomorrow. All the information has come from a friend of mine, he use to do this in Japan as a side job, when he was in the air force. He is the one who showed me how to bypass my neutral saftey switch. Also i still have to get around to pulling out that overdrive light. Nick

how much does it cost to have someone do it for you, like a performance shop or something? all the s13's around here seem to be auto...

574 - a guy i talked to said he just put a push button starter, and everything else works fine. cruise works and everything. i'm trying to get him to come help with the install, since he knows what wires go where and stuff. AJ - it'll cost a pretty penny, even if you have all the parts. its a pain in the arse to do, so shops will charge you out the butt.

i'm willing to do the auto to manual swap if you paid me for labor and had all the parts. Tomorrow i have to replace the rear main seal in my transmission. Nick

my 97 s14 has an auto -> manual swap. im still using the auto ecu and wiring harness as well. my transmission is not plugged in...no need for it to be either. manual trans are a mechanical system, not electronic. however this means my reverse lights dont work (you can rig a switch for this) and my check engine light was on since its not "sensing" the transmission. i just pulled the bulb out of the cluster. good luck on your swap.

i don't have reverse lights and my check engine light is not on either. Like SWIFT_DRIFT said you can wire up a switch if you want. I personally don't care at this point in time if i do have reverse light. i don't drive in the city that much. Nick

ok now i am just mad. if ACT doesnt' get off their arses and get me my clutch, and if some other people dont send me my hardware that i asked for a long time ago, i am going to get angry. i hate nagging people about this stuff, but if that is what its going to take, then so be it

I have 5% window tint. it is really hard to see out my back windows at night. So i roll down the window and stick my head out at night. I going to take picks tomorrow of the neutral saftey switch bypassed.

I do the roll down the window thing with reverse lights also.It helps to have the lights working though.I sugest you wire up a switch. It will be easy to do with everything apart.Good Luck with the swap Ben!(Make sure its a clean job as to not make your car lower in value)When are you planning to do it?
