Hey all, I own a 98 I30 that feels as if it needs some suspension work. The car has become very harsh over the last couple of years. It has 160k miles. When I go over big bumps at speed, like faster than 40mph, it feels as if the rear end is going to swing out, and on the freeway, it's scary.

What type of lower cost struts do you guys recommend, kyb, monroe? What else should be done at the time of strut replacement? any bushings or mounts?I can use my stock springs right?Anything in the rear end I should look at besides the struts? (Most of the harshness feels like it is coming from the rear suspension)And I'm assuming there is Nissan specific tools for some of this?

I don't want to put too much money into this, so definitely no performance stuff, and I plan on driving this car for about two more years. My mechanically inclined friends will do the install to save loot.Thanks.

If you have not replaced your struts then I would say that is your problem. Tokico HP's (blues) should work fine as well as any "name brand" strut if the car is stock.

thanks audtatious, is there anything else I should repace when I change struts, like bushings?

I'd have them looked at. Never hurts to go ahead and be proactive since the car is 10yo as well.
