This message was displayed for the first time today on my Q. Must be the front pads as I had the brakes checked about 6 months ago and the fronts at that time had half the residual thickness of braking material than the rears. I have changed pads many times beofre on other cars, but are there any special aspects to be concerned about with the Q?

No, Jesda I know has done this.... ITs pretty simple, but Ive never done it before to confirm.

While your in there I would bypass the sensors.

Use the factory pads and don't bypass the sensors. Do one side at a time and you can compare to make sure it's right. Very straightforward.

Kill those god awful sensors. Those worthless pieces of crap never came on when I actually had severely worn OEM pads. I cut and tied the wire on the rear passenger side (its covered with a thin plastic flex tube) and the one on the front passenger side (its sticking out of the caliper).

My sensors have worked wonderfully every time! The pads were worn but not down to the metal. I had a good 2-4K of use left... plenty of time to order new ones and find time to put them on.

IF you decide to bypass them, don't cut the harness side of the sensor... cut the wires on the existing sensor harness BEFORE it plugs in to the wiring harness that goes back to the ECU. That way you have made a plug in electrical cheater short plug - but if you want to go back with OEM pads you can do so.
