Car: Thinking my friend and I have mechanical skills

Post

I have no fire. So I was wondering how I check. So far I've gone plugs, coils(which omh) to the ignitor chip. My question is do I go to the ECu from there? how do I tell if my ecu is shot. I tried the ohm meter from the Ecu to the ignitor chip using a pin out I found on here and got nothing? Does the ecu conector have to be pluged into the ecu to get ohm? if I'm not getting Ohm between ECU and Ignitor chip what could that mean?I tried to search but couldn't find anything this specific. Thanks in advance. Scott

I am confused what you are asking, but the ECU better be plugged in when you are testing. The ignition signal is sent from the ECU to the igniter chip, then to the coils and finally the spark plugs.

What I'm asking is, 1.Does the ecu have to be pluged up when I'm testing with the ohm meter

2. All the componets are the ECU->ignitorchip->coils->plugs.

ThanksScott

Are you saying you are not getting any spark. IF thats what ur saying, u should try to reset ur timming and your cas. If you havent already. Alot of times thats what it is.

Well, I didn't touch the CAS. The one I got wasn't broken, could the timming still be off anyways? and how, for all you technical people, does this prevent you from getting spark?

ok, slow it down.

are any of the coils firing? if none of the coils are firing, move on to the ignitor.

are you sure the ignitor chip is working correctly?

and to answer your question, the CAS has everything to do with your car getting spark. if the CAS is not working the ecu will not give spark or fuel.
