Well some of you may remember seeing pics of my new car before. Here is the link to the thread, pictures are towards the middle-

http://www.nicoclub.com/forums...21126

Lots has happened since then. Those pictures were taken the weekend before I went to get my license plate and get it registered. This is one crazy story so sit back..

May 5, 2003-

I get my car all prepared over the weekend for my first trip out. I went to the tag place monday morning and I now have my license plate and can legally drive my new 97 240SX SE. I'm so excited so I drive it all over town for about two hours and go home after that.

That night was one I'll never forget. My brother and some friends wanted to see it so we all met downtown at the local college. It was pretty scary even from the start. My Speedo would not work. It said 0 no matter what speed I was going, I thought about turning around but figured oh well. That was the only night that has ever happened to me..

So we met up at the college and took some pics:From left to right: My new 240, my friend Rob's 95 240, Gabo's 2003 Eclipse, my bro's 91 MR2 Turbo(all 5spd).

As we head home afterwards at about midnight, I get confident and figure I could try drifting around a corner. This car was all stock on relatively bald tires. I turn left around a corner and spin the wheels out in 2nd gear going about 30 mph. The rear is let free and it drifts around the corner, but on its way back it snaps back around to the left, I try to correct and it snaps to the right. For some reason I didn't hit the brake pedal, its like I blanked out or something, and I go spinning around. I whipped across the 3 lanes in a drift and BAM - right into a house.

I "woke up" rolling backwards back into the street. The airbags decide to then burst in my face 5 secs or so after the collision. I turn the key to get the car on and the engine runs so I brought it back up to the side of the road out of traffic. I was about 2ft away from demolishing a mobile home next to the house, and luckily there was no traffic while all this happened.

This happened in a presumably bad part of town but the people turned out to be pretty nice about everything. This part is pretty funny now that I look back.

My brother saw what happened in his rear view, pulled a 180 in the middle of the road and drove against traffic to get back to where I crashed. He ran out and made sure I was OK and everything. I then was greeted by a fire marshall who lived next to them. He checked out everything as well. Next up was a stoned man who was just wandering down the street. He saw what happened and came over to me and was like "Dudeee man whhat happened hereeee?". "Everyone needs a hug". He comes and tries to start huggin on me so I say "get away from me" and I had to hold him off me for a few secs. He then tells me he'll pick up what I spilled in the road. Turns out that in my pathway was a giant trash can filled with nothing but used diapers. I CLEARED this thing like 30 ft and dirty diapers were all over the road lol. This guy went out in traffic and picked them all up. Next out was the person in the house. This old guy comes out in his bathrobe - "What the hell is goin on around here". "Um, I ran into your house". "ok well I only rent this place anyway". He goes back inside:rolleyes. A cop shows up after that, preparing to write 2 tickets for me. In the middle of writing the tickets he says, "You know what, this really sucks." He rips them up, tells me how this happened to him once, makes sure I can make it home ok, and leaves. I then bungie cord the hood to the chassis and drive home.

Here are some pics from the next morning:

http://www.eniety.com/pichost/pic/wreck ... hwreck.jpg

Luckily I got insurance that monday afternoon, so the next week was spent going through that process and I was approved to have the car fully repaired because my police report was good, total costs equaling $8,500 after my $500 deductable(I bought the car for $8,700). Turns out the police officer put that there was gravel in the road and I slipped on it and lost control. How awesome was he..I am so grateful. So I had no 240 for the next month while it was getting repaired.

During the repair I ordered my list of mods (check my signature) and changed the color of dark green to a 2002 Nissan Gloss White for an extra $1,200 for a GOOD paint job. I've spent the last couple months touching it up and getting the mods on.

Through this whole process I have learned much and have had to spend much, but its all worth it and now I couldn't be happier. Don't bash me on drifting, I think you've realized I've learned my lesson. I am thankful for all who have supported me: The neighbors of that area, the owner of the house, my parents, the police officer, my friends and the insurance company. The only damage to the house was a cracked piece of wood on the corner of it.

Pictures of the finished car are below. I'm not doing anything else to it until I get enough saved up for a turbo setup. Thanks all, hope you enjoy.

I think if i even attempted to drift as a novice 17 year old driver I'd probably pee in my pants. Ive got the balls just not the nerves to handle it...Go Figure...If something happened I dont know what I'd do...Without being experienced it's too much off a risk fo me

Drifting is fun... Crashing is whats not. And the underspoiler should have come stock with that model 240sx...

If you drift enough times you are guaranteed to eventually f**k up your car, by either crashing it or just accelerated wear and tear. And that is indeed some story Shift. 1 month after I got my 95, it was hit and run twice in the same week, right in front of my house too. Lucky for me 1 of them left a note so the insurance money paid for new paint job.

Never heard that before. The spoiler doesn't come stock. I got it from http://www.partznet.com for $270 shipped, thats about the cheapest you'll find it new for. Also I did paint it but it all chipped off. Tomorrow I'm taking it off to sand, prime, paint, and clearcoat it. I'm painting it black, not white. I like the black lip on white car look better than white lip on white car.

Yeah thanks man I have been looking forward to the orlando group ever since I got my 240. I was at UCF last year but didn't have a car. I've talked to a couple guys in orlando, mainly the guy that tried the CA swap but the engine blew up on him. I move up in 3 weeks for fall semester and will be going to the meets. You'll recognize my car from the pics I gather. What 240 do you have so I can seek it out? Also I wasn't really showing off, just trying to drift.

Definitely looks great... I've always loved the look of the kouki headlights. Gives the car more of a badass look.

Shift - Your car looks great. I guess the only loser in this situation was those of us who will pay higher premiums as a result of you wanting to be Koguchi. Not trying to flame, but I hope you learned a lesson here despite the personal benefit.

Again, great looking 240 - Be safe and look out for houses. :D

Yeah I hear ya, its not like I'm the only one that gets in a wreck though, every other day on the forums I see threads titled "Got in a wreck/Hit someone/Was in accident for 3rd time with my 240/Parting out my 240 - got in a wreck". I don't know why 240 people get in so many wrecks but oh well, thats the price we have to pay I guess. Oh and I was definately a loser in this, I had to pay the $500 deductible plus I didn't have the car for a month, plus my own premiums are going to skyrocket. It might seem like I lucked out but half was me trying to plan thing for the best outcome. Thanks for the input all.
