Car: 2004 G35 Coupe

Post

Hey everyone! I'm a new member and I just bought a red 2004 G35 coupe. It is totally an amazing car and I love it very much. However, I have noticed in the last 2 weeks i've owned the vehicle that it does have some quirks. Has anybody noticed how much heat the car produces? I can feel it on the outside of the car and while i'm inside the car too. Also, can anybody tell me how the electric seats work? Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't???? I think there is a timer on them. I actually discovered last night that the door needs to be open if you want them to move forward??? Also, my transmission makes a wierd very high pitched sound and a clicking sound when I first engage the clutch from a standstill sometimes. I hope I don't need a new clutch plate! Other than that, the car is totally amazing. I put in nothing but Synoco 94 octane gas. Does anybody have any thoughts on this gas??? Is it worth it? Do anything? I look forward to discovering this wicked car with you guys!

Welcome to NICO.

Glad to have you.

If your car has memory seating flip the AUTO switch and it wont move forward and backward when you get into your car.

How mnay miles are on your G?

Welcome to the forum! If your car has memory seats...just forget about it. Sometimes it works for me...sometimes it doesn't..I kinda gave up on it. I prefer 91 octane from Shell or Chevron. I don't think it's worth it to put 94 octane if you're spending more for it. POST SOME PICS OF YOUR CAR PLEASE!

Hey guys! Thanks for the speedy reply. I'm going to try to upload some pics.

Btw, anybody have any thought on the heat issue, or the transmission issue?

I am already addicted to this website...lol

The heat seems normal. Has been for me in my 2+ months of ownership.

Heat from the engine is normal. Sometimes I would go home at 5 pm. Go out to the garage to do some stuff at 9 p.m...and still the heat from the car.

I use regular 87. there is really no need for midgrade or supreme unless you want the car accelerate faster and take full advantage of all the horse power. otherwise, the difference is not noticeable, especially on MPG.

so long as you keep the car well maintained (i.e. oil/filter changes, etc). then the car will last.

Welcome.... Looks like you got a New G ride... I just 93 or 94 oct... that is premium here in FLA... You don't have to pay more for it lol.

Ok on the transmission... Does it sound like a MACK Truck when at Idle... and then when you put the clutch in it goes away?

If so you have an after market flywheel... also telling us the mileage will help us help you about the problem or what we think it is...

Welcome to the G family..

jmcohen23...you should really think of switching back to 91 or better. Why buy a beautiful car and half-a** on the gas? In the long run, running just on the edge of pre detonation and relying on the knock sensor to continuously retarding the timing will shorten your engine's life. I wouldn't take that risk. Premium fuel for my baby only!!!

Probably not an issue on a G35x if driven properly based on the fuel used.
