I don't know if I should celebrate yet but here's the story

I followed HeavyThrottle's instruction about crankin the car. I did it for 20seconds, 3-5 times, but the oil pressure light was still on. THen I realized the front of the car was jacked way up high while the rear was on the ground...stupid me. I lowered the car and cranked again and the oil pressure light went out. The whole time i was cranking the car there was a loud rubbing sound...

I started the car and it idled around 1500rpm and the sound is still there, as if a pulley is rubbing against something(metal on metal sound) or somethin is wrong with the belt.I don't want to make it worse so I turned the car off. Then there was a little smoke out of the engine bay. Is this normal or something way serious?

Is it a knocking sound, or a grinding sound? When I fired mine up, one of the bolts that hold the power steering pump on was rubbing on the backside of the pully. You could also have a bad bearing in the alternator, I've seen that happen as well.

Oh, and the smoking prob isn't a big deal. It's the dust/oil/grease burning off the exhaust mani.

I will check for lose bolts. It's really hard to tell but i think it's both but it's pretty loud. I thought my engine was goin to blow up. I will try to get it on camera tomorrow

Get us a vid/soundclip. I hope for you're sake that you didn't spin a bearing cranking it w/o any oil available to the pump....

I couldn't get the car to start. Changed the battery and even connected it to a running car. I took out the alternator belt and the sound is still there.
