Why smiles???? Cuz mom now has a reason to loan me the last little bit to drop in my CA.
Driving the other night, things were seeming weird. Power was down, and it seemed almost as if the clutch was slipping. The timing chain has been rattling for about 2 months now, but all was doing fine. Hopped in today, at it seemed all gravy. Then, after it was all heated up, it started sputtering, but the temp gauge was still in the ok. It died at a stop sign, but I got it to start right back up. Then I pulled over to look, and it died and wouldn't start. Got it to crank, but wouldn't catch. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, hopped in, and it started, but with lots of cranking. It ran.....sort of....for about 3 minutes, then came a red light. Dead. Wouldn't start. 15 more minutes and a fevered call to A1 Towing and it started and idled again. Then I noticed it: no more timing chain rattle. Limped it home as the temp gauge SOARED. Odd thing tho: I turned on the heater to try and vent off some of the heat but no hot air came out. Got it home, popped the hood.....Man, cooked coolant sure smells good;)
Moral of the story: when your timing chain rattles, GET IT FIXED....
Or buy a motor swap;)
