Yeah, so at 7:15 this morning, I got a call saying my CA was going to be here at about 8:30. After some hairy maneuvering getting it off the truck I've finally got the clip in my garage. Unfortunately I've been stuck with excellent weather for the swap .

I'm going to get some pics with my dad's digital cam today (hopefully).

So, does anyone have any suggestions for prep before the engine goes in? The list I have so far is:

Change sealsChange valve cover gasketClean really wellflush all fluidschange all filterschange clutch and flywheel

Other people on zilvia have mentioned a compression test, basic tune-up (didn't even think about it honestly), etc.

test your compression. Mine came out kinda low, but in the OK range, but it now looks like I'm gonna be replacing some rings. Lucky me...

Turbo Gaskets.... should have done mine while I could have...:beatfreak

Check the timing belt and tensioner.

Basic tune up will do wonders too..... plugs, fuel filter, air filter, o2 sensor, and thermostat. Might as well do the water pump for peice of mind while you are there too.... its only 30 bucks or so.

i would change the T-belt and tensioner. You can get Power belts for Importfan.com. You have to remember how old these things are and that belt is the only thing ikeeping your valves from kissing your pistons, I have seen this happen before and its not pretty. Other than that just stick to the basics, You might want to have your turbo rebuilt too. As for me I wouldent buy a motor without checking the compression. Im not gonna take someones word that its okay when Im handing them cash.

joe, water pumps are $30 unless your car eats them and you finally have to go buy a nissan one because it has a warranty, then theyre like, 80 or something. anyway, do everything everyone has suggested and youll be fine.

I see, well let me know if you need the hook-up. Give ya a great deal! Rings, Gaskets, bearings, seals, whatever you need! We also have a garage available if you need one.

I'll let you know if I need it. I'm probabally going to put some forged pistons in there, so the rings won't do me any good. I'm also going to put some TOGA bearings in that are supposed to be better than stock. But I might get an engine gasket kit from ya. I'll let you know when I get closer to going ahead and doing this.
