Finally finished my timing kit last night in my KA24DE. Been tore down since last Saturday. Probably wouldve had it done sooner had my buddy not dropped and broke my idler gear. This whole thing was a hell of alot more of a pain in the *** than I expected. IF I ever have to do anything like this again, the motor will be coming out first. Also replaced the motor mounts with Nismo ones. Have yet to put a timing light on it, and it seems that it has very little power until about 3.5 or 4k. Probably just a little retarded, right? I feel pretty confident about the mechanical timing.

I just followed the FMS to the T. Except for I didnt take the subframe off like it said. Just left transmission mount attached and jacked up motor at the the bellhousing to get enough room to get the oil pan out. The trickiest part is getting the oil pick-up off and back on with out messing anything up. It has to come off before the cover or oil pan will come off. If all your talking about is the upper guide, you should be able to just take the valve cover of and remove it. Only have to buy a valve cover gasket.GL SunshineAcid, it IS a pain.

Here's how I got the oil pan off:

Unhooked the power steering lines from the rack along with the steering columb spline. Put jack stands under the engine.Dropped the crossmember with the rack. Dropped the sway bar. Pulled the oil pan out without removing the oil pickup.Seemed like the best way to go about it.

Got a question though. Can you just remove the chain guides? Will it hurt anything? One of those guides is like $79.00 at advance auto. So, if I can just not use it, that would be sweet.

Only guide I didnt use was the top one. One of my reasons for not pulling subframe was to avoid changing the geometry of my suspension.
