So I got my car back from the shop last wednesday.. I was excited to pick it up from its fresh sr20 swap.. but come to find out I had a blown turbo.. and it was idling horribly, barely staying alive. I was sooo bummed out, even more bummed out when I blew my clutch barely making it 3 blocks away from the shop, had to tow my car home.

I was in a bad mood all week, not being able to drive my car until this morning when my dad had a mechanic friend come over and fix my clutch while I was asleep, didn't drive it until I got home from work. So I started it up, it was running like crap all night and I was still bummed out. I was driving around, and it wasn't until after I made a u-turn at the light that I thought I was hearing things, I thought I heard my turbo spooling and it wasn't my imagination after all! I guess it was the oil buildup in my turbo that was preventing any spool and I guess It heated up enough to rid of the dried up oil.

Anyways.. I have a question, It's still idling a little rough and I was wondering what kind of intake filter I should use, can I use any kind of filter or do I need a specific filter made for my maf? I looked up some filters and most of em I've seen work only with the stock sr20 maf or z32, would it still work as well with my ka24e maf?

thx in advanced.

Once you have an adapter from the MAF to the filter, anything will work.

About the oil buildup... Go to napa and buy a can of Sea foam engine decarbonizer. Now follow these steps carefully!!!

1. Get a small disposable cup and pour a 1/3 of the can into it and disconnect a main vacuum line like the one going to the brake master cylinder and have someone help you. Make the person in the car rev it up to about 5500rpm and stick the vacuum line into the stuff and suck it all up. As soon as it is all into the air intake turn the engine off. Don't mind all the white smoke coming out of the exhaust. That is normal.2. Next pour another 1/3 of the can into the engine oil and 3.then pour the rest into your fuel tank.It will dissolve and burn out the excess carbon buildup in your cylinders and the stuff in your oil will clean up your oil passages and dissolve the **** out of your turbo and the stuff in your fuel will clean your injectors.

Exactly 300 miles after doing this, do an Oil change and let us know how everything works.
