I'm almost done getting my new oil pan on. I figure I should be able to fill my car back up with oil and drive around before the day is over. so excited, I am.

also, I bought a gasket for the oil pan. it's made of cork. kinda caught me by suprise.

Yeah, oil pan gaskets are weird.

But yay to having them properly in place so you can drive. :)

Now get your azz back outside and finish!

If by some chance the gasket doesn't exactly match the pan surface/bolt holes, try rubbing a tiny bit of oil on its surface and let it sit for a little while. I've noticed in the past that cork gaskets can tend to get real dry if they sit for a long time, and they can contract a little, sometimes adding a bit of oil will help them to expand back to original size.

Not too much oil, tho, otherwise the RTV won't stick very well. Just like a fingertip-worth.

this, unfortunatly, is the first car project where I havn't taken pictures the whole time. I do have a few pics, though, and I'm gunna take more. don't yall worry. just this camera sucks major ***. if you tilt it wrong, the battaries will loose contact and the camera will shut off.

now I gotta wait for my friend to come over, so he can get oil all over his hands.
