Alright, i have an electrical problem and I may have to keep this car after all. We can jump start the car and it runs great while the cables are on it but when the cables are removed it dies. Please tell me its a battery and not the alt. I need an aswer asap.

If you remove the cables and the car dies, it is your alternator man. Find an alternator shop and get them to rebuild it for you.

I am i just wanted to make sure it wasnt the battery but thats probly gone too because i hooked jumper cables up backwards a week ago and that started the problems. I think i may keep the car because we fixed the freeze plug, ill get the alt rebuilt this weekend and get a new battery and that should solve my problems and ill have a 300whp ca Ill get it tuned and get the dyno charts posted up

Fuse thats in the fuse box? all the fuses are fine but IIRC there was a fuse directly on the alternator.

Lol i just dont want to have to pull it off. You gotta understand, 6 months, 5k and not being able to feel the full power or drive it will take a toll on your enthusiasm to work on this

nab911,

If your problem started after you hooked up the boost cables in reverse, check all your fuses whether it is related to the alternator or not, if every thing is good, your alternator is gone, your lucky you didn't fry your ECU.

well it ran for 30 minutes earlier good (on the cables ). I am lucky that it didnt fry but ill just take the alt out, get it rebuilt this weekend and pray to god the turbo isnt blown (it smoke around the turbo before, but that may have been the freeze plug area right below it.)

Ok well im going to say this and just wait for someone to tell me im a dumbass. That fuse blew when i hooked the cables up backwards so there is a tiny socket to connect the pins together. Im getting a new one this weekend .

Ha. I'm surprised you have any power at all. Removing that fuse kills power to everything.

Yeah i know, there is a little socket in its place so its just a link and not a blowable fuse... not too safe.
