what do i need to do? was i suppose to "prime" the fuel pump? is there a way to get the air out of the fuel lines?(i would think it would just cycle out though)

I mean no disrespect but please search because the answers are there trust me. Even in my case with the ever so slight bad idle on my car. The problem with me is I need to get off my fat a** and spend some time and money on the car.

So you changed the fuel pump with a OEM new or confirmed working used OEM unit?

You grounded the fuel pump?

Air in the fuel lines will get out by means of the emission control system and you don't need to worry about that.

Does the fuel pump make a buzzing noise (Prime) when you turn the ignition to the ON position, NOT STARTING THE CAR?

Its not the OEM Anti-Theft Control Unit thats causing the problem either in case your thinking that.

Why did you bypass the Fuel Pump Control Unit? Best way to find out if you have fuel delivery issues is to connect a Fuel Pressure Gauge (T-fitting) just downstream of the Fuel Filter. You may be able to rent it from a car parts store (maybe free from Autozone) or buy one (@ $20). With Ignition ON, engine off, pump delivery pressure is 43PSI. with engine running, Fuel Pump Pressure Regulator brings it down to @ 34 PSI. Usually, pump operation is limited to 5 seconds with engine off, unless you start the car.

As Paul mentioned, check the Security LED. Normally it should be flashing and must turn off once you turn Ignition switch to ON. Another way to verify it is by closing and locking all the doors. The system goes into PRE-ARMED state with the Security LED steady ON for @ 30 secs and then goes to ARMED state and LED blinks every 2.5 secs. Unlock the doors and the system goes into DISARMED state and the LED blinks every second. Any problem with your Security system/Anti-Theft will disable starting.

Check the wiring to the fuel pump and make sure the connector to the Fuel Pump Control Unit (FPCU) or the Fuel Pump (FP) sending unit is not burned or otherwise bad.

Do you have a aftermarket alarm or kill switch for the Fuel Pump installed?

Grounding the Fuel Pump makes it go into full speed mode all the time(43.4 PSI) VS (34 PSI under certain conditions).

Attach a alligator clip with a wire to a suitable ground (unpainted, low resistance...) as shown in this picture courtesty of Mike (goody90Q45):

Or you can do like I did and find a suitable female connector for the Fuel Pump Control Unit connector and plug that into it and the other end to a suitable ground.

The search has gotten better and I guess it takes practice like with everything. But if the search didn't work how else would I be able to put some of this together: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B5VDQi ... N2I3&hl=en

You're not hearing the fuel pump run for 5 seconds to pressurize the system when you turn the key to the ON position?

If you know how to use a voltmeter the easiest check would be to verify power to the fuel pump for the first 5 seconds after the key is turned to the ON position. Unplug the FPCU connector, study the FSM to find the positive wire (you know the negative from the pic) or probe with the voltmeter for 5 seconds at a time looking for the "switched wire" that has 12v power with the ignition on and is dead with the key off.

The only controls in the fuel supply system are a relay in the trunk, the FPCU and the fuse. If you have power to the connector then it's possibly a loose connection inside the tank. If you have no power to the pump check the fuse with a voltmeter first then make sure it's in the right slot in the fuse box (It's been done before).

i honestly dont think it is anything in the fuel pump or fpcu. when i turn it to on i dont hear the pump at all. like i said i unhooked the hose going into the engine and there is no fuel what so ever. i did that bypass the fpcu/grounding the pump and still no fuel

if i replaced the battery did i have to reset anything such as the anti left stuff?

Like Mike said there are only so many systems on the Fuel Pump circuit. Look at the Relay. Thats were I would look if it were me and I checked all other systems (like I said).

When turning the key to the ON position you should hear a buzzing/clicking relay sound from the trunk near the power antenna area. Use another person to turn the key on while you listen near that area.

Take a gander and familiarize yourself with the service manual.

Check out Ebay, NICO clasified: infiniti-parts-for-sale.html and http://www.car-part.com/.

Drew has a special on his NICO ECU, It comes with a service manual.

Or you can look up the digital version here: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Q45/1995_Q45/1995_Q45/

Yes sir there is, Please see page EF & EC 221 in the 1995 Infiniti Q45 service manual. A multi-meter is required for the test along with wire or better yet a female connector for the relay to rest in which would make the test easier.
