My friend has a red sileighty hatch with a SR20DE-T redtop... and he was telling me that he cant shift into first!... he said that he has to warm th car up for 25min! to be able to shift into first...

so it cant be the clutch of the TO bearing... What could it be? cuz i was thinking that some thing is wrong with the sensor that wont let you shift into first from second, maybe his computer thinks hes in second or going 10MPH and wont let him shift...

Any ideas on the problem?

I dont think there are sensors on a 5spd car that tell it when it can shift from first to second.

Second the ecu should have really nothing to do with you transmission. You foot and your hand is the ecu for your transmission.Atleast thats how it is on 3000GT's anyways.

Yup what limits you from shifting into first is the transmission. If your going to fast it physically wont let you shift in a gear that's too low.

Now what probably is the culprit is you first gear syncro. Did you try double clutching to get it into first? Maybe you low on fluid since it works when the car is warmed up.

Well since your at a stop when shifting into first double clutching has no point, I would check the level of the gear oil but most likely the syncro and blocking ring assembly are shot. He needs a transmission rebuild.

Id rather sell my own body and come up with 300 then sell my car over something stupid like that! Not really Id just work on peoples cars and save up. Thats lame though jump on it then and tell him youll buy it and just fix it for 300 and you will have a running $900 sr swaped FOWTY.
