Make sure you have all the sensor plugs hooked-up correctly! Do a ecu analysis to see if it gives you any codes.

You could've crossed the water temperature sensor plug with the AAC plug. The cold start valve (the little gray funny looking thing below the t-body) could be bad or it's plug could be crossed with something. These are just possibilities and may not pertain to you, however, you need to do a diagnostic scan on the ecu which has also been covered on this forum within the past month.

Well i think ive narrowed the problem down to the Air Regulator.I took off all hoses and checked them from the acc back, and the car will idle up until i connect up the Air regulator.Any idea why it the regulator would go bad? Its on EF&EC 12 in the ca18det manual

No, they are not the same as the DET. Try one off the KA24 series or Maximas or something to that effect.

I checked the plusar manual and the det fsm and they look identical. Also I checked ka24de manual and im sure it does the same thing, its just in a different shape and wouldnt hook up correctly.

They are not the same on the pulsar, trust me. The pulsar's bolts directly to the manifold and receives its vacuum via a hole in both the manifold and the cold start valve with a seal around between the two bolts. The DETs's unit receives its vacumm via a big vacuum hose that runs from your idle control section. If you go source a pulsar's part, you will be sadly disappointed.

Well i checked the wiring going to the unit and it was kinda sketchy, i rewired and fixed it. I still think the regulator is shot tho, because when it is cold you should be able to look straight through it, and when its hot, there should be a slight hole for air to get throught. When mine is cold, its closed shut. Here is a pic from 3 different fsm's comparing, im pretty sure the ca16de pulsar is the same... Maybe you were thinking of the ka as being the different one?

Hi Mikey,

I haven't been on this forum for the last couple of days, catch me on msn or call me, I have an air regulator if you want it and boost boy is right, the ca16de is different than the det , they look almost the the same, but they are not the same.If you don't have my phone# any more, email me at [email protected] and I will send you my number, I am at work right now, but I can check my emails.

Thanks boostboy and rafi.Rafi I emailed you about the regulator.

Could I do a temporary fix by just plumbing the 2 hoses that go to the regulator together? I know it would create a slighly higher idle when hot, but at least the engine would idle.

I did try holding both hoses together when the engine was trying to idle, and it seemed to make the engine idle smoothly.
