Or it could still be a big vacuum leak. the maf is getting wrong air readings at idle, but when you give it some gas and hold the throttle constant, the computer switches over to oxygen sensor readings, which doesn't rely on the false maf readings.
Both are possible, but I think my diagnosis is more common for these symptoms.(I like playing 240sx doctor) the idle air problem is probably easier to fix, so i'd start there first.
