dont do it, you will not be able to drive your car as a daily driver, especially in bad weather conditions.

Those butterflies have a purpose in s13's.

the purpose in when the car idles, or when it is at low rpms. is closes and causes the air to move faster over it and into the engine(kinda like the vortex) and at lower rpms it helps a lot. if you remove it, it supposidly add like 7 hp. wow thats a lot. not hardly. 7 hp just about can only be noticed with a computer. but it will cause your idle to be rough. if i were you i would leave it in and dont worry about it.

Here I quote:

" My opinion, I don't call it second butterfly. I call it intake restrictor! It is not secondnary butterfly, and dont' work like secondary butterfly. Thus, it will NOT cause anything. It will not lean your car . It will not cause any bad idle. And it will NOT destroy the engine any much faster (oh my god, where does this come from). And there's nothing related to the "intake restrictor".

When the S.V.C valve close (engaged), it restrict your intake manifold with a small pass through hole at the corner. This increase the velocity of your air, thus promote better fuel vaporization, and producing swirl air effect in your combustion chamber. Primary, this is to improve fuel consumption and increase stability of engine condition, when you start your engine in the morning. (and for emission reason too)

S.V.C valve open (dis-engaged) when:1. Water temperature below 35C /95F2. Engine RPM above 1400

So you can see, is pertty much a useless design. Since I have a turbo, I don't want it there :D"

I only can list the cons for the system.

I got the "restricter" remoed when I got a change. (replace gasket). Never have any problem with idle or anything...
