My car is a 92 240... The other day when i went to start it the car wouldn't do anything. I would turn the key and it would click thats it. So i thought my starter was bad. I brought it in to autozone to have it tested and it passed. So i figured it might be my starter relay but when i went to look at it this is what i found Is the second space supposed to be plugged in?? and wtf is this... pretty sure it isnt supposed to be like this If relay is clicking that doesnt automatically mean its still good does it??and i looked at the fsm but it does nothing but confuse me lol

Your car was once an automatic. The second pic is of a connector that is connected to itself so the car thinks that it is in park, allowing you to start it.

First pic i'm not too sure about. Try replacing the relay, also check all of your fuses.

my terminal on the battery is loose, and when i go to start it it does that click. check that. those connections maybe your problem, make sure they are clean and tight. it was working before? looks like it bypasses the relay?

That was the first thing i thought it was.. but there clean and very tight. Could it be a bad battery, i didnt think a dead battery would cause symptoms like this.

pull the plastic casing off of your steering column and see if the plastic part of the ignition switch is coming out of the metal case, push it in with something that wont conduct electricity and try starting while your doing that, if it starts, you know what the problem is.

Well i tested the starter that isnt it... i replaced the relay no good. I can push start the car and it will start up no problem every time but i cant jump start it... while i had the car running i disconnected the battery and the car didnt die so im pretty sure its not the alternator any other ideas here guys?? could a battery alone be causing this. Im getting enough of a connection that i can push start it and everything inside works (radio, windows, lights)

if the battery cells are shorted and not opened yet. Did you test the battery with a load? Did it have a positive recovery voltage? Does the recharge current go away?

i cant take a pic but if you look at the cylinder lock the key goes in on the right side, and on the left side there is a peice with 4ish wires soldered to it. that plastic peice starts to come loose and wont make contact so if you push it in and turn the key at the same time and it starts, you need a new ignition switch (about $30)

Ive clean all connections and i tried jumping starting it by connecting the cables straight to the starter. That didnt work so i know its not the battery or cables. Could it be that autozone's starter test is fubar?? I've heard of people have there starters pass when there were actually not good.

Are you getting 12 volts at the Control circuit comming off the magnetic switch when in the start position? If you are the control circuit is good, and the next thing to check is your starter.

make sure your car is in park or nuetral with the parking brake on.

Create a jumper and apply 12 volts at the connector comming off of the solenoid, if that allows it to turn over then your control cuircuit is bad, do you have an auto or man?

If you have an auto your control cuircuit is affected by the inhibitor switch

if you have a manual the curcuit is controled by that interlock relay that you showed aboved and also the interlock switch.
