The batt was totally dead. can someone tell me if i need to have the brain re-booted. Or is there anything i can check to see if it's blown. It goes into gear as soon as i put it into drive or reverse. I just bought this car. I love it and im sick over this. Also is there a brain for just the transmission and where is the diagagnosis port.
This post seems very interesting to me for the following reasons.
1) I have the exact same problem ( found this post while searching the archived posts)2) For some reason no one replied?? Did I miss something???3) I could not figure out why no one replied, I figured it was a decent question and everyone could learn from it. ??
I searched for the following topics, won’t shift, stuck in second, stuck in gear, no shift, will not shift.
Anyway, this is where I have ended up.
1991 Q45, 208k, no modifications such as trans cooler, no history on trans service. ( I bought this car for spare engine and trans )a, car sat up to 8-10 monthsb, Battery was deadc, car moves forward in every gear selection, 1,2,D3,D4 and R, (R moves back)d, only code shown on display is “brake pads worn”, engine light not on.e, idles perfect.f, Wasps nest next to battery. g, car was sold cheap because fuel pump was dead, I replaced and drove home.
1) AT check shows…OK followed FSM AT302) Swapped TCU with 93 TCU same condition except will start in first and will shift to second, still will not shift to 3rd or 4th.3) Although I did not get the TPS code “3” during AT check I have not confirmed voltage.4) Condition of fluid “looks OK” I think the only reason is that the car sat for many months and the fluid was very low, I added 3 quarts to bring up to full mark. And the new fluid looks new.
Any suggestions on what to check next before I drop the pan to clean (change) the filter and clean the A and B shift solenoids.
I don’t really care about the car but I am just interested in fixing the issue before I tear the car into little pieces. Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to give as much information as I could so I would not get flamed on.
