I guess the question to be asked is this:

If you believe in our criminal justice system, and you believe that the person who did this really doesn't deserve to be a member of society, then why are you not voting more carefully and selecting candidates who will support harsher enalties for assault.

I'd have no problem bumping the penalty for this case to capital punishment. Why not? How much is the acid-tosser going to contribute to society? Can she really be rehabilitated?
