This morning, went outside to the good ol' S13, put my coffee mug inside and CD case, and fired it up.

Everything was fine for about 5 seconds, just like normal. Then I heard this horrible, metal-on-metal thrashing sound - like Freddy Krueger in a frenzy inside a steel cage. I mean, it was LOUD.

Alarmed, I shut the engine off. My heart sank, because I instantly knew what it was...timing chain. Looks like I will now have to make a decision; either fix the KA and replace the flogged timing chain, or save up, leave the car defunct for a while until I can afford an SR20 swap. And that will be a pain, cuz I have ABS and HICAS to hook up too...and I don't even have a house or garage yet to do any of this work.

ugh. Woe. Lament. Gnashing of teeth. I suppose it could be worse, but I am grieving nonetheless. Anybody got a garage I could borrow for a few days? :D
