Hi, I just bought my 2009 rogue a few days ago. On the way home from the dealership I noticed that in some parts of the road the car wobbles back and forth, from left to right vertically, every now and then on the highway. At about 85 mph it starts to feel unsafe and even sitting as a passanger gets a little nerve racking. I've read through many forums and searches ,but all I come up with is excellent reviews on freeway handling. I've driven on the same highway in my other cars and the effect is not nearly as noticeable. Is this the way the car is designed to handle the freeway and im overeacting? Or does my rogue with 10 miles have some sort of problem already? Has anyone else experienced poor freeway handling?

I would bring it back to the dealership and have them inspect it. Could be something simple as one of your wheels lugs are not tight enough. My Rogue feels very secure on the road no matter what speed I'm doing.

I have not noted any significant issues with my Rogue it does move around a but very little. Some cars are certanly more stable than others though. Maybe you need a little time to get used to your Rogue. I would check the cold tire pressure as this can effect the handling a good bit, the tires are overinflated during shipping and if the dealer fails to set this during prep it can change the way the car rides.

Don't check anything yourself or read any more forums, just take it to the dealer immediately. It may just be a simple fix but the consequences of not having it addressed immediately could be deadly, this is NOT normal and you nead to take it in for service NOW. The Rogue is stable and you obviously have a problem with your vehicle.

Since the speed limit on the Interstate is 70, maybe this is god's way of telling you to slow down!

This is definitely not normal. It could be as simple as a wheel weight that has fallen off. Take it back to the dealer and have them look at it.

PS. If you live in a snowy climate, the wobble could be caused by ice frozen on the wheel. It's a common problem. If you live in sunshine, then I envy you...

If I interpret your description correctly, it sounds like you're describing a swaying motion..moving from left to right as you state. If that's the case it probably doesn't have anything to do with your wheels....(snow in tires, dropped balance weight, etc.) That would tend to cause a vibration/shake throughout your car.

Was it a windy day when you were driving it on the freeway? That could easily push your car from left to right at those speeds.

I've never experienced that on the hwy nor surface streets. I personally wouldn't be driving that fast in a car that new, but to each their own.

I had to drive my car on the fwy the 2nd day I got my Rogue & I took my time driving & didn't go over 70. Now I'm not saying the Rogue can't or shouldn't go over a certain speed limit, but I'd think that since it's brand new & all that you'd want to go easy at first.

I too have encountered similar issue.

After searching on internet, I bought a digital gauge from Walmart and checked tire air pressure on all tires. It was way over recommended pressure. So dealership did not bother to check it before delivery.

I deflated the tires to make it 33 PSI on all tires. Ride quality has improved significantly though its not as good as a sedan.

Hope this helps.
