That article seems off... way off.

Maybe the EX would sell better if Infiniti would stop wasting time on MORE crossovers and put the right damn engine in the EX. Why is it an EX35? I can almost understand the first year going that way, but even then: why is it STILL an EX35? Everywhere else in the world it's an EX37. What gives?
I still can't figure out why they didn't call it the G37 Touring instead of the EX. I'd bet several pesos that name change alone would have made a monumental difference in sales.

Also, I swear Infiniti said they would NEVER share platforms with Nissan again (at least as far as North American lineups go) outside the G/Z, and that the I35 was to be the last front-drive Infiniti ever. They were REALLY REALLY vocal about that just ~6 years ago. I'd be really surprised if they went back on that now on anything but a Leaf spinoff (which is a special case). There's a reason there's no more G20, no more I35, and no rear-drive Maxima.
I don't see CVTs selling well in Infinitis either, and since Nissan dumped the RS5 5AT for the Xtronic, any FWD Infiniti would have to have a CVT.
And the article notes the trademarking of "JX25h" which also points to the car being rear-drive, not front-drive. The Altima Hybrid uses Toyota-licensed tech, and it's an I4 setup that's not suited to a big crossover and wouldn't sell well in a premium-branded car anyway. Nissan DOES have its own hybrid tech, but it's rear-drive only, and recently debuted in the M35h. It's designed to work with the VQ, which would better suit a big crossover. It's already planned to appear in more Infiniti models over time, too. So it makes perfect sense that any Infinitis with "h" at the end of their name will use that tech.

If it's a 7-passenger crossover, I'd say it'll just be M-based. The new M is pretty big, and the platform should easily suit the needs of a crossover that size.

Oh, and "JX30"???? The VQ30 has been dead for a decade.

All that aside: I wonder how Jaguar would react to the use of JX as a model name. I'm pretty sure it's time to bring back the use of WORDS as names for cars.

"All-New Infiniti Butterface" has a nice ring to it, I guess.

Yeah but they can't use the same name on all their cars. OR CAN THEY.
